Illinois Guys/Gals
Are font window tints legal now in IL? I keep hearing they are. Is this true? 5% or what? Had tints on my blazer awhile back and kept getting pulled over. But I hear they are legal now and every cop I talk to says they aren't.
Thanks,

idk i know they became legal for awhile but i hear the law was revoked and are now illegal again but im unsure. anyways the law was you could have up to 5% on all the windows behind the drive and up to 50% on the drivers windows OR up to 30% on behind the driver and up to 35% on the drivers windows.

yeah I thought it was legal for anything in the back, and 35% on front? If they revoked that, thats really crappy. But i don't care... i'm goin 15% all around soon.... People don't get too much trouble around here. And I even drive on the military base here... i don't think they care because so many people drive with dark ass windows... couple of my friends drive around with 15 and 5% so i'm doing it!

yes it was definately legal. it was approved in november of 2009. but ive been hearing as of lately the laws been revoked and tints are now illegal again. if you ask me it was just another money maker. everyone got tints because it became legal and now they can pull you over for them and ticket if its been revoked. ill check right now.
looks like its still legal from what i can tell. heres the link

I've been driving around now since November, and haven't had a problem. I'm not 100% sure what my tints are, since I bought it with the tint from the dealer back in Nebraska. But they are tinted.
I also think it depends if you are doing anything else that will draw attention to your car, or give them some other reasons to pull you over. Driving around obeying all traffic laws vs speeding around blaring music with a loud exhaust. Because really? It matters.

i had 35% front, 20% rear on the balt
now i have 30% front, 15% rear on the evo.
I only got pulled over once in the evo, but that was 2 weeks before the new law went into effect. I've been fine ever since.
