May Meet; Selecting a date

Hello all. I have started the planning for a Cobalt Meeting in May. This thread is to simply pick a date. Please post your preferences. I have so far selected Saturday, May 27th.

There will be a lot planning involved in the meeting, so this thread will close on April 15th. That will allow time for the reservations to be made with enough notice.

The May meeting plans to be large. There are a number of Vendors on Cobaltss.net that are in the Chicagoland area that will all be invited. I hope to arrange for some reserved space where they will be able to set up a table and display their goods. Hahn Race Craft has already been informed, and they would like to come out as well. They expect to be able to bring some of their project cars, including the JIN tuner transformation car, and the Twin Charged SS.

Ideas I am still working on include a road course set up as well as an off road test track (a small one). These are just ideas at the moment.

Any input is appreciated, it's always a key part of any plan. So give me your dates!

honestly any date would work for me as long as its not on a sunday. i will be more then willing to help setup location and contribute ideas for activites and such.

have you given thought to doing a meet at a forest preserve with a huge family style picnic. there will be plenty of parking and a great atmosphere for pics. not to mention the amount of room for vendors and games would be abundant.

Location is is going to determined after the date is settled. I have three general ideas so far, no specific ones. They are, as you mentioned, a forest preserve with a good parking lot; A Chevy dealership; and a large retail area.

Anytime, anywhere, I'll be there!

I think any Saturday would be best for me, but whatever date is chosen, I'll make time.

a chevy dealership isnt a good idea considering most people dont want the dealers to see modified cars under warranty still

Way to get things organized. I can do anything pretty much. I go to school year-round so thats not an issue. Cant wait! And I agree Wikky, not likin the idea of a dealership.

I'm down for that date as long as I can get back from Annual Training/Advance Party by then. <<<(Marines) As well as having a kid due June 17th (Baby Girl) and House being finished somewhere in July I have my hands full. That is why Geoff (Halfcent) and you all will be planning this one. Hope to make it there I'll let you know as soon as I can. Thanks, Erik

The 27th of May works for me.
I have no mods yet, but I think the dealer is bad idea.
What the dealers don't know won't hurt them.
Too bad we can't find a shop that does mods at which to meet.
Somewhere with lifts, tools, parking, shade, etc...
Just a thought...

May 27th date not available.

Bill Hahn just got in touch with me;
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Geoff,

Drat the luck! That weekend is the IHSA State Track Meet, and my son is participating in Pole Vault (he took 3rd there last year as a Junior!). This will be his last year, so it’s a Must-Attend for me.

Had any other weekends been discussed? As far as Saturdays go, I’m good for May 13th, June 10th, June 24th, and July 1st.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

"Drat the luck"? That's funny. Anyway, given this information, I am now considering two options. We can reschedule the May meet to the 13th and still have Hahn attend, but that is on Mothers day weekend and its two weeks earlier, which puts me in time crunch. Or, we could have a low key May meet, and move the larger meet that we are trying to plan to June 24th. That is the option I would personally prefer.

Let the discussion commence!
