Hey man, advancement in the Navy isn't the greatest, but it's possible to move up pretty quick. Its a choose your rate, choose your fate thing. I'm a Damage Controlman, made E-6 in just over 7 years, and that's coming in at E-1. Yeah, I had to bust my ass. Put in the off duty, stay at work time, study my a$$ off, NOT go partying every night like I wanted to. But it is possible. Made E-6 when they promoted 7% of the eligible E-5s. Made E-5 when they promoted 10% of the eligible E-4s. Rate was tied up, but it IS possible. Just sayin.
Yep, its possible, I share pretty much your same story..E-6 in just over 7 years...
We all finally caught up with each other. Everything's all good. 5 showed up and had a good time. Some of us had trouble with the whole stage and launch thing but overall it was a good time. I enjoyed the 8th mile. The only thing that was messed up was you lined up and whoever was there, you ran. That includes all the V8 monsters that were there.
I was stationed at Hurlburt Field in Fort Walton Beach just 45 min away from Pcola...its a nice area. The French Quarter is cool, but you need to head out to Ft Walton and Destin as well! I want to take the wif down there in the summer or fall next year so she can see a REAL beach! Plus I have some buddies still there too.
And 60 miles closer. You enjoy that long boring ass drive to Richmond for those couple runs.
I'll pay the extra 5 for the convenience. If there was money to be won then it might be worth it to go to Richmond. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the 1/4mile there, just not worth my time, money, and wear on my car. Have fun.
Oh and actually from my house in gloucester its only about a 30 min drive. But i can see where it would be much longer for yall.
It's amazing, it is only 9 miles less than Richmond for me to get to the Carolina track, but because traffic is so lite, I can get there, make several runs, and then come back to Norfolk, and still have a quarter tank of gas.
Thanks for the link to the other track Jake.
