Chapter Two. How to go about charging your car.

When it comes to getting your car F.I. (forced induction), you have to decide between supercharger or turbocharger (or both, aka twincharging). For my purposes I am turbocharging. My first thing to do was create a list of things I wanted.
1. How much Power? (for me, I know ho much I want at first because I've driven several turboed vehicles, I know what to expect)
2. Grip
3. Acceleration with little boost lag
4. Good tuning
5. price?
6. aftermarket parts (proper fuel system, exhaust, intake, cooling, boost controller, turbo timer, gauges, etc)
7. Future engine internals for more boost
8. TUNING!

I want to make roughly 250 hp and torque to the wheels (270 or so to the crank), with minimal fuel changes, new exhaust, sport clutch and flywheel, and be reliable everyday at 6-7 psi on stock internals.
So far, Hahn racecraft has a kit that has not blown the stock internals with 7 psi and is putting down wonderful amounts of power for a stage 2 with minor mods (exhaust, clutch, minor tune). As far as I know this kit is going for 3-4 grand not including intallation. They have a pretuned ecu as well. This is basically all you need to get started with. Just make sure the company has a good reputation and will back their product with a warranty of some sort. One final basic to turboing, I am changing my internals from 10.6:1 CR in order to make more boost without blowing up.

Info on the LE5 (aka 2.4L ecotec engine):
Compression Ratio - 10.6:1
Internals - Not forged but stronger than regular cast. Forged piston rods only. All aluminum design. VVT means a difficult to replicate cam, but great power in the low AND top end. A 2.4L will take a 2.0L S/C off the line when driven correctly.
Size - 2.4L (duh...)

Doc, quick question, when would be a good time to speak with DTP about a turbo system? Im wondering if I could get a custom one cheaper. Not to mention tuning for now.

Ok, im done for now. question, just pm me. I dont claim to be an expert, but i do know what Im doing. I do like to be corrected so I know my stuff when it comes down to it, so spot a mistake, let me know. constructive criticism is GOOD.

So You Want Turbo Do Ya?

if you want to do some research about it ( and the how tos) go to www.ecotecforum.com. they have turbo caviliers and sunfires with the ecotecs. now i know its a different ectec from our cobalts. it will help guild you in the right direction with you turboing your cobalt. also adam (NJHK name on ss.net ) is a great source for turboing you cobalt. he had a bad ass turbo sunfire!

i have to add

i also have to add, be patience if you can! start with a few bolt ons to get you started until someone comes out with a turbo kit. the thing about this "hobby of ours" is that it takes time and lots of $$$$! if not, buy a faster car.( and we hear this all of the time!)

Ok, so Im on the freeway(I6) heading to work, driving 65mph and I see this car fly up behind me kinda fast. So, Im like wtf??? Well, this person drives by and keeps hauling ass(almost a ricer flyby, almost). It was a Cobalt SS/SC. I was trying to figure out if he wanted a run or what, but that early I usually try to drive safe cuz I know everyone is just waking up. Well, if he/she is here, nice ride and I hope to see you at K Mart tonite...

Evolve, I was on the highway all day today. Usually 664 and 64 near yorktown and hamtpon and 264. Blue cobalt? I have the SS/SC wing but I have the 2.4L body kit. I was running pretty hard too. By the way, if it was your friend's rsx, my boss says it is a god in its own right and he was VERY impressed with what happened.

As for tonight, if it rains, I propose we all go to Casa Blanca Cafe (if no one objects) since we can go, get an endless tea for 4 bucks and sit all night and go over HPTuners and shoot the **** if it rains. Plus, it's right down the street from K Mart in case we want to roll out.

Jake, Mark, Will, I propose we meet at my house around 7ish so we can shoot **** and talk shop until the meet, but I think my mom wants us out so we could always go ahead to Casa Blanca. I'm just trying to find something to do since lindsay will be working tonight. 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000

****... any and all mistakes are because she was leaning ovre the key board to tease.......... GRRR....

Anyways, I was trying to say that if anyone is up for it, we could go to the strip club (where she works) and relax a little, spend a lil money 50 bucks and you'd be fine. Just an idea if we get really bored

The GM stage 2 belt will work for this and they are readily available for order. Which reminds me, John yours is already here!

Cesar, I am truly sorry to hear about your grandfather it seems like you two were close. I feel for you man, I am still getting over the loss of mine too.

no he is helping us out because he doesnt know much about the intense pulley...he is only trying to help us out and see if we really need to machine the snout...if not then return and get the billetflow...simple as that.

64 and 664 going east, yeah. What time? I have a very dark pearlescent blue that is black/purple from certain angles and in different lighting.

I was hauling ass to get home I think....

Cesar, sorry to hear it man, but at least he is in a better place, eh? Life goes on man, but never forget the ones you love.

As for strip clubs, you need to be 21, only reason I get in is because A: "I'm In Love Wit' A Strippa" and B: The bouncer thinks I'm cool.
