It wasn't a huge turnout, but loads of fun regardless. The afterparty was a blast for sure.

bumping the thread from the dead to find out when the spring meet is planned for.

Timmayfest 2011: A Nationwide Meet : Columbus, Ohio June 10, 11, & 12, 2011 - Ohio Bimmers forum

they are having a mobile dyno and all kinds of other stuff it looks like, maybe .net could collaborate with them a bit. i know it would make my pants tight to see some bimmers get their asses kicked by some cobalts...just sayin

Not to say Bimmer drivers are ******, but why would these guys want to roll with us? We (being the group, not myself) own a bunch of 4-cylinder econoboxes that happen to go like stink. Their cars are beautiful pieces of art, that go like stink and sound good doing so (No offense).

If you can string them along, that would rock, but don't expect them to be approving of American lunchboxes, or my cheap Jap knockoff of a German Sport Saloon.

In other news, I took to a Civic Si hatch earlier in my Ion 2.4. Its back from the land of totaled. The kid didn't know what to think. He laughed at me when I peeled a little in the sedan. When he gave me three honks and I left his ass behind, he applauded me. Told him of the motor and how well designed it was. Some drunk eclipse driver tried to run with us, but nearly rear-ended a cruiser and got pulled over. Failtacular.

I would say try to get something together at Sharon Woods with a Civic or Camaro group.

Another idea.. try to promote the meet as a "Chevy Meet" and not specific to Cobalts. You might see a broad range of cars show up.

Even better. What about a domestic tuner or just domestics meet? Bring in the few vipers and the Shelby guys that we see at Quaker Steak every year. I still qualify cuz my car is made by ford. *wink*

i like the domestic tuner idea, not so much the shelby guys. lol. i used to run with a few stang fans back in my f-body days, and i couldn't stand the attitudes they had. "worship me because my car has twice as many cylinders!".

but i've seen some decent focuses around my area. and of course, theres always a good srt4 fanbase. could be a pretty cool event!

oh josh, your way of describing almost every bmw on the road besides mine...makes me sad mine isnt better dammit! lol

actually i think it would be cool if johnnyyb would call/email the bimmer guys and see if we could have an actual co-sponsored meet...i know my balt was (absolutely)puny compared to half the guys that showed up to the couple of meets iv been to, but if there was a dyno and other types of cars to look at, as well as other vendors to possibly buy from (or something like that anyway) i think it would be one hell of a meet...until everyone rolls over to the kroger(?) parking lot and show up some ricers/ make our presence known *cough killeminthequarter cough cough*.

besides, some bmw guys have to be looking for another rolling money pit...even if its just for a winter beater loljk

how about "push it, pull it, drag it in, cobaltss.net meet" lol

I definitely agree with that crutch.

Unfortunately im no longer in ohio so if the spring meet is going to be planned I need a BIG heads-up about it. I want to be there so i'll have to try getting the days off I need for the meet. I'll just take a few personal days or something. Remember, Fort Rapids will give us a discount on rooms and will let us hold the car show in their giant parking lot for free! That means we can drink there and not have to worry about driving anywhere even though im sure we'd have to hit up quaker steak just because of the tradition lol.

Alright. I'm calling it then. First Saturday in May. May 7, 2011. Meet up at Fort Rapids since they don't mind the car show. Then head out to Quaker Steak, and then head into town to find some ricers to scare or head out to National Trail Raceway (I know it sucks) or something. I'm taking the whole weekend off this year. no more of this working at 1pm on Sunday BS. And Kirk, you better make sure you are off this time. It sucked cruising up solo.

Here is the link to the Spring Meet 2011. I want to stay on top of the game this year and make sure everyone can be there. Hit up the other forums and see if May 7th works. I put it in the meet page as the day, but it is tentative until you guys let me know if you think it'll work. Someone call and check on room prices at Fort Rapids and the possibility of the car show there. I'd love to see Bimmers and "true" JDM tuners, as well as domestic tuners and pony cars. I say anyone is welcome so long as they don't embarrass us or get us kicked out (coughunderagecough). If we can get a pricepoint for Fort Rapids, tell the other forums to use the CObaltSS.net meet as a way to save money on rooming.

2.4s are fun. My Ion is the sedan with the 2.4l. Epic sleeper car. I rocked some kid in a Civic Si hatch thinking I was driving a boring car. He hopped into take a look and **** himself when he saw a 5-speed in a plastic Saturn.

I've driven a little of everything. When you eventually sell it, look into the Mazda6 and speed6. If you can stick by then, you'll love it. Even the auto Mazda6S is a riot and a half. My new car is a manual 6S and keeps up with stock SS turbos, as we proved at the last meet. Now with a bigger motor and such, I'm hoping to edge out someone.

I've owned several. The Mazda has the smoothest stick, but the best to learn on is a pos truck. Its long, forgiving, and has a lot of momentum to pull down on. Plus the action is heavier, so you get a stronger leg muscle and the sportier clutches are easier in time. I was taught in my 98 Ranger XL 5-speed. Then a Corvette C3, learned to drive a manual Massey tractor, and switched to cars. Its been smooth sailing since. Still stall once in a while, but I blame that on the shitbox F23 in the NA cars.

I'd drive a double clutch. Magnesium paddle shifters are fun as hell in the 370Z and Ford Fiesta.
