LED Third Brake lights - we're bringing them back !
Several years ago we carried the Knighthawk LED third brake light for the 05+ Cobalt.
We've had some interest in bringing these back from Cobalt owners, and so we are going to bring them back into stock! We'll have them in a few days, stay tuned !
Thanks guys
Cory

What a coincidence! It's amazing that you've "had some interest in bringing these back from Cobalt owners, and so we are going to bring them back into stock" just days after we started production and posted a feeler thread....

Sorry, I havent seen your feeler thread, we've been so busy at work lately I havent had much time to really spend as much time as I normally do on the forums.
Your right, its no coincidence we're bringing them back. It seems like Cobalt owners remember us carrying these and selling these a few years back and they want them again. Ive been getting PM's from Cobalt owners asking about these, and so we decided to bring them back again!

I have a 09 SS so I can't comment on ALL cars. This is what happened when I installed an aftermarket 32 LED strip into my lamp housing. I didn't have much hair BEFORE this episode but after the troubleshooting required to fix it I have a lot LESS now.
If you will read your owners manual you see that to ARM the cruise control you must hit the brakes once after starting the car to allow the cruise to be turned on. This is a safety feature built into the system to verify that the brakes are working BEFORE ALLOWING the cruise to be set because the BRAKES are the primary method by which the cruise is turned off. The system uses the High Mount Brake Light to sense the brake function. It does this by sensing the current draw across the High Mount lamp. Because there is so little resistance across an LED there isn't enough current sensed to allow the cruise to turn on. This is the same condition that causes rapid flashing LED's. If you used a LED lamp from another vehicle it probably has the resistor circuitry built in. There's plenty of reference material around.
This is a quick reference. Scroll down to the bottom;

If something had been available, when I did mine, for $30, including shipping, I would have jumped on it.

I can't believe more people just don't go out and buy a LED strip on ebay (both impala and monte carlo work) and wire it in. It takes like 10 minutes to install. It's really, really easy. I'd say the hardest part is putting down the doubled sided tape and pluggin the wires in. By using those boards you do not need to put a resistor or anything else in the series. They don't stay on like others that I've heard about. If you aren't for ebay check a junkyard. If you aren't for either, then I guess pay the extra dollar and get one of these. Just throwing out all the options.
