Mpx lightweight crank pulley now available for 2005-2010 cobalts!

Introducing the MPx lightweight pulley for the 2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt with 2.0/2.2/2.4 engines.

$129

This pulley is not to confused with an underdrive pulley, which can create problems with your alternator, power steering and battery.

This is a lightweight pulley, which has the same diameter as the factory pulley, but its 51% lighter, and it allows you to use the same factory drive belt.

MPx pulley is 51% lighter than the factory pulley
MPx pulley is 100% American made
MPx pulley uses a stainless steel center section with billet CNC outer section.
Military grade anodizing hardcoat for longevity and great looks
Threaded bolt holes for easy removal of crank pulley like the factory pulley.

Dyno graph showing 4-10 hp increase on our Cobalt SS Turbo.

looks really nice, but it looks like it could throw off the balance of the engine. its not a harmonic balancer like the stock pulley is (notice the rubber bushing in the stock pulley)

Was also curious of this as I see no harmonic balancer. Just a pulley. So how does this pulley deal with this issue?

Looks like the press fit the center lock ring into to the pulley it self.

yea see that black ring with the three dimples on the stock pulley? yeah thats to balance the engine. i strongly recommend this product NOT be sold. Not trying to step on any toes here, just dont want people to blow up their engines

I concure.Hell,Iinstalled the MRZ on tundra's car 2 years ago and he has had no problem with it besides when he 1st got it it did not have the updated ring on it which was fixed by MRZ sortly after. These WILL NOT do any damage to your engine.

My only concern would be oil seal issues, anyone know the deal there, i know thats been a problem in the past with some of the others

as for that harmonic balancing crap, ever hear of balance shafts? and most race engines remove those anyway

Mrz had the oil leak problem but fixed it shortly after.Mpx stating above that it's billet and what not. They won't leak. And as stated this will be a good upgrade for L61,LE5,LSJ,LNF.Its the same concept as a lightweight flywheel.
Dartsi, yes,if you technically(sp) speak, you would think taking the harmonic balancer would throw off the balance of the crank, but it's so minimal that there will not be any abnormal wear nor damage.I'm just going off exlerience here.

I had the cobalt addiction one on my car for a little while and I didn't get any misfires or anything. I'm actually selling it now to put money towards my other car but I didn't have any problems with it and there was a noticeable increase in throttle response.

Check my sig if anyone is interested

This may not sound like much, but weight attached directly to the crankshaft can alter the cars performance and throttle response pretty significantly.

We put in a good amount of testing, and revising to make sure there are no leaks. We didnt just blindly release this piece for sale.

Haha, wow, people blowing up their motors from a lightened crank pulley? Thats quite a ridiculous statement there.

Ok guys, I know a lot of you are concerned about this, but let me stress that we have been selling underdrive pulleys for almost 12 years. Know how many engines have blown up due to installing a pulley that we have seen ? ** 0 **

Also, consider this, whats up with lightweight flywheels that so many of you guys are installing into your cars when you buy clutches.

Those lightweight flywheels, that are also DIRECTLY attached onto your motors, usually weigh in at 10 lbs versus the factory cast iron 20-25 lbs.

Know what happens when you install a lightweight flywheel onto your car? YOUR CAR HAS A DRAMATICALLY IMPROVED THROTTLE RESPONSE AND YOUR CAR FEELS FASTER! IT DOESNT BLOW UP!

This whole balance argument is pretty ridiculous. The engine is internally balanced by means of the crankshaft being machined, drilled. It doesnt rely on a crank pulley to be balanced.
