Finally found 1!

Been looking for a few months its taken a lot longer than i thought. But i found a rust free 06 ss. Now i have to figure out whats been done to it. I know a exhaust for sure and it looks like a smaller supercharger pully. Previous onwer says a stage 1 Zzp tune. It runs good , goes down the road great. I did get a few parts. Oh and rust free freaking unbelievable here in Michigan. I will need interior parts. Im going to deep clean first new carpet for sure. Then the parts search begins.

Welcome. Congrats of finding the car you wanted. Pictures are the best way to share. I would take a look at everything, and sort out if anything needs to be fixed or upgraded. Look at all your suspension components. Struts, control arm bushings sway bar bushing, sway bar endlinks, tire rod ends, ect Most people seem to neglect this stuff unless there is an actual problem. I replaced all mine about 4 years on my 09 and it made huge difference. Tightened the steering and suspension back up. My car feels really good after that. I'm replacing the carpet in mine, I'm going to use ACC for my new carpet. If you need to know where to find stuff, there are a few places that still support us. I like to support the people that support us.

My first stop for parts is Over the top Performance Http://www.overthetopperformance.com.

2nd on the pictures!
OTTP is good, but ZZP is local to you (I have a lot of their stuff and Powell, however the latter is unobtanium now)

Also 2nd on the suspension. Chances are they're all stock and need replacing. Would also highly recommend a rear sway bar. As for tuning, you're basically stuck with stock. Only the '07s and higher are tuned these days.

i didnt know that. Mine is beyond stock now i dont know how much. I was told it was a stage 2 with a ZZP tune and pully. Ill check the pulley tomorrow. The previous owner had just put on a new rack and control arms. He has a second 06 wrecked out back and im going to pick up some more stuff before he scrapes it. I have 2 weeks to get what i want. Its all inclusive with the purchase. The young man drove this out of state to attend college. Hes now a GM tech. Im telling you i couldnt have found a better seller. It was Devine intervention lol. Now about this no tun8ng for 06 what is that about. I may want to raise up the horsepower cant i just go to a 09 engine then? Turbocharged?

Wouldn't be ZZP, it would've been Trifecta, and it would've been completed several years ago since they no longer support the platform. ZZP only does '07+ (and continued support)
The '06 is also too different overall; you'd be better off finding and buying an '09 then trying to do an engine swap. Electrical is different, and most of the parts are discontinued. I'd leave it as it is, just continue with the regular maintenance.

He said he has an 06 SS(LSJ). The only cars not supported are the 05/06 2.2(L61). Anyone using HPT is fully capable of tuning any LSJ.

More on tuning.

So i have a LSJ. what is HPT? Really i just wanted a beater with a heater. I was looking for a Monza or Oldsmobile Firenza i think it was pronounced, these are cars i grew up with. I was around for the Rust years i graduated in 79. Monza spyder was a bad ass car same with the Olds. So instead i found this Cobalt and since i do like speed and basically have no money here i sit. Im happy and when i figure out how ill post some pictures. Its all red very little rust if any. Oh and the clear coat is peeling like crazy. The paint is fine. Ok done for my rant for a bit. Oh yeah and thanks for the join up im really going to enjoy the intelligent thought and conversation in this community.!!

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was also those two years for the LSJ as well because of the subtle changes. I just double checked and yeah: https://zzperformance.com/collection...15849818718319
They still support the Ion Redline!
