Glad i finally signed up!
Well too start, been reading in the forums since about June. I have learned alot about the car and figured it was time too sign up for the odd questions i cant seem too find the answers too. So i guess i will say a few words about the car. When i bought it, it was completely stock with about 86 000 km on it. Ran good from day one and still havn't had any major issues with the car, other than a few little things. Since ive bought the car i have put in a K&N SRI, did a vaumee tank delete, and a muffler delete. Future plans for the this winter is, ZZP intercooler with charging pipes, and catless 3" downpipe and trifecta tune and than progress from thier. Im kinda holding off on installing any more mods till i buy a truck for the winter and park the balt. Winter in Alberta is pretty shity. So far the car has held up in the cold weather even on the days it dips down past -20 degrees celisius. Anyways i dont have too more too say. Thanks for reading. Have a good one
Welcome brah. Good idea on the truck. I notice when it gets really cold the cobalt begins to lack a tiny bit in some area's. Mostly small thing's but waking up at 5am in -25 weather you want everything to go smooth.
I've noticed some of these problems personally and other's from reading on forums.
- Frozen shifter cables
- Frozen BPV
- Bad heater circulation(door windows always fog'd up)
- Backend loves to collect snow when driving long distances, I have to pull over more often to clear the brake lights and license plate.
- No heated side mirrors
- TC's don't come with heated seats(need to do this mod)
- Plastic intercooler tubing prone to cracking/exploding(uncommon but has happened to some)
- Harder to fit smaller rim bigger tire over SSTC front brakes.
- Clutch is geared more towards higher rev'd shifts and sometimes I wonder if winter puts a lot more stress the way you have to adjust your shifting. I can not 2nd gear start on icy roads like I could in my previous standard car.
Glad you will be getting a truck for the winter.

I'm testing the frozen shifter cable thing this week. Just changed the trans fluid out yesterday at 69k miles.
Haha I would but too many natural disasters in the US.
I had the frozen shifter even with a brand new GM tranny. Took 25 minutes of idling to get the interior warm enough to get all gears back. Or else You'd have to rev high and 1st-3rd-5th it. Which sucks cause I use 4th more than 5th in winter. This was only when it went below -20, and happened 1 of the two winter I drove it.

Ive had things like this happen in the past. Not on the balt tho. I just wanna throw this out thier, ive read about people having rough idles on cold starts and im yet too have any issues. Any input on that? Actually the only time it does it, is when i get it all warmed up,go for a drive than park it for about an hour and jump back in it,and if the coolant is around 30 degree shes pretty rough for a few mins. Cleaner idle tho on cold starts at -10 degree coolant
Welcome to the forum Captain Awesome! I got your message. I sent you all of the contact information for GM of Canada. They should be able to answer your question. Welcome!
