Hey Yall. I'm New to both Balts n Forum.
Hey everyone!! So I've had a few cavaliers and what not but recently acquired a 2006 sunburst Orange cobalt ss/sc E85. I have some knowledge about the car and want to learn more. A lot of things like abbreviations for things still confuse me haha but I am getting there. I am not sure what LSJ or LNF means. I think I have an LSJ. 😐. But any tips to help would be greatly appreciated! As well as where to begin with mods, including parts or sites. I'm thinking suspension...

LSJ is what you have ... its the engine in your car (the supercharged one) the LNF is the turbo motor.
i think you mean G85 package as well (lsd + recaro seats) ... not E85 which is the corn juice .. although you could be on corn.
welcome !! and post up any newbie questions you have right in here

Ah ok lol sorry new to forums too... Really just lookin for advice on mods. Tbh I just need to learn more. I don't mind putting in the work but most of my mechanic experience comes from me and YouTube and manuals. That's about it. So I see parts online and I am just not sure on what is what when it comes to quality of the product or what the differences really are in them. Like right now I was to do suspension things. I want to get new rotors calipers springs sway bar ect. But don't really know what brands to trust and sites to trust as well..

Or just buy the parts and find a garage to do the work. Same with cosmetics and visuals. I don't really want to do them yet I want to build it a bit before making her sexier....

if your going to do suspension, you need to determine what you need. Are you using the car to road race, auto X ? want the "low life / stance" look ? just Daily Drive (DD) ? OR just an all around good quality ride ? or a mixture of any of these ?
The haynes repair manual for the car is pretty good for an all around guide book. Tehre are a ton of "How-To's " on here in the how to section.
Best forum advice i can give you : if your searching for something .. go to google and type in "cobalt ss and then your question " or w.e your looking for cobalt related. After a while google will pick up on your more frequent choice of site (usually css.net) and that will be the first thing it displays.
for example: you want to know how to install lowering springs .. you type in "cobalt ss lowering spring install"

Haha pretty much exactly what I do. Also why I joined. I just got the car 2 months ago. I am not a stance/camber fan at all, I just want to go faster. She is my DD, but I do want to drop her maybe an inch inch and a half. I just see a ton of brands and am not sure. I read some reviews on products and really just wondering is if it's you get what you pay for. Trying to catch a deal doesn't seem likely

welcome man, yeah like yellow said use the search bar or go to the home button and then click like lsj performance or how to. it will help you learn a lot man. as far as companies go you will hear a lot about ZZP, Powell, and OTTP all make great parts ZZP is you perfomance place, Powell makes sway bars, springs, trans mounts, and anything suspension for our cars, OTTP he carries a wide variety of parts and the best part from Josh ive had is his short throw shifter. but search like lowering springs or whatever and youll learn stuff really quick

Welcome and Ottp also usually has some sort of sale going on so keep an eye out for those!
And when you say you want to go faster do you mean like a turbo swap or tvs?
Also don't forget about crateenginedepot.com
They have a lot of oem stuff as well as they carry a lot of Powell parts so you don't have to pay that Canadian shipping
