(Hopefully) Future SS/TC owner from Oly

Just wanted to say hi, and make an introduction. I'm Tyler, 19 y/o, I work at Discount Tire and am going to school this Winter to become a certified EMT. I'm currently hunting for an SS/TC and learning to drive a 5-speed so I can actually test drive one I've been in a PoS '06 Kia Optima for the last year or so, and I'm ready to get into something a bit quicker with the same mileage my Kia gets.. was looking at SRT4's but they are so overpriced and I don't want to drop in years.. so hopefully within the next month I'll be cruising in my SS/TC.

Currently looking at this one: Used 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS in Tacoma, WA Area - Lakewood Ford

Let me know what you guys think. You guys seem like a great community and I can't wait to join, if you guys have any questions about tires/wheels just let me know!

Tyler

Welcome keep your hopes and dreams alive my friend. That is a nice car but if it don't work out don't worry something else will pop up,it always does maybe better deal.
I used to shop for cars, and just bought two couple months ago,I wait, and wait, and wait, then I jump on what I want.I did'nt prefer the color on mine but I'll never find what I bought again for the price.
Good luck send pics when you pull the trigger.

Been looking for a while, at lots of different cars but the Cobalt SS seems perfect for me! 260hp, 30mpg highway, under 15 grand. Total sleeper. Does it get much better? I can live with a cheap interior lol.

I blew 2 engines. I have other bills to pay so for now i am sporting the 1999 Sunfire GT with the 150HP LD9 woo hoo!!!. Can't even get a Trifecta tune for it anymore. Could put a SC on it but this one is just going to stay stcok and maybe 2 years from now I'll look at another Cobalt probably TC though.

I got my SS/TC from that same dealer (lakewood ford). They were a little big on price even with a nice trade in. They don't know anything about those cars though so do your research.

I found out mine had a tune on it without any of the supporting parts. The brakes were toast on the one I got and now I've spent over a grand trying to fix problems from the previous owner who treated the car like crap. I don't expect a dealer to be aware of all of hese problems though.

Thanks for the heads up. Is there anything specific I should look for? This will be my first turbo'd car as well.

Going to give that SS/TC a look today. Is there any red flags I should watch for? Still don't know if im confident enough to test drive it.

Check brakes visually, pull dipstick, get under and look for rust, etc. The big problems I had could not have been found without hooking up my laptop to it and reading the tune.

Welcome. You should come down to PIR sometime with me and Salvagebalt and check out cars out.

BTW there's a clean yellow TC for sale right now for $10k on craiglist.

That would be awesome. I'd be down to do that for sure. That yellow one is nice but I am trading in my car.

Well they sold the 08 I was looking at. They had an 09 (no rpd) with higher miles so I was able to sit in that and kinda feel the car and im pretty sold on an SS. Now to find the right one. Im going to ask my bank about the 08.. see if I can work something out to check that one out.
