Should be pretty obvious, just signed up. I've been debating on buying a cobalt for a while. After driving a friends 07 SS/SC, i just had to get one....so i did. Before buying it, i had visited this site just to check out some of the things that people had done to them and just seeing the options available with this car its phenomenal. To wrap things up. Love it and plan on keeping it for a long, long time.
bokuwa baka gaijin desu
I'm gunna try and get some pictures up tomorrow. Haven't taken any yet because I've been busy driving like a mad man.
So check this out. I bought the car 08FEB14 and everything seemed fine while checking it out. No leaks, brakes/rotors checked out, headlights/tail lights all good, but I guess i forgot one tiny detail. I got pulled over on my way back from VA for having the license plate light out....ain't that some bull. I went to walmart like an hour ago to get a replace 168 bulb. i pulled the dead one out and notice it looked like the inside of the socket had burned. When i put the new light in, nothing.
Brand new (used) car and its already broken. yay. most likely gunna install an LED strip from walmart or something.
Lol all good
Just said welcome and nice to meet you
Baka gaijin desu lol
I've watched enough anime to get that one.
I'm jealous I can't wait to travel on vacation there. Been studying the language before I go

Check the fuse related to that bulb
Do a voltage drop tracing the wiring back from license plate light and check for a possible short.

Its not even been 24 hours and I'm addicted. My 01 Mitsubishi Galant is going to end up just sitting in the driveway getting rusty...
I have the mechanical knowledge of a 4 year old (i mean i can figure things out if given the time and nice big picture instructions but thats about it). Basically everything you said has me like "uhhhhhh what?"
true but thats the thing. I bought this car in hopes that i could finally teach myself how to do more thorough maintenance instead of just the standard tire rotation and fluid change. the most i've ever done is replaced the radiator after the first one cracked and exploded in my Galant which was relatively easy to fix, and then change the spark plugs wires because one of them was corroded and arcing from the wire to the battery metal-restraint-thing...
but yeah, anyway, i cant seem to find anything through searching of people giving decent (or at least understandable, by my standards) instructions on what to do to and how to check the wires.

Welcome bud. Glad you like it. The cars are a blast. Do a lot of searching on here, there's a lot of info. As far as what you can do to it the options are endless. There's been a lot done. What do you want to focus on, looks or performance??? And I love the orange btw.
I've been looking for a local car club but can't seem to find anything. You know of any around this area? (i also just got moved here a year ago and have no idea of the crap to do around town.
i don't trust craigslist...
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
