Just bought a Cobalt SS

Just bought a 2006 SC for $2800. 75k miles on body, 85k on motor. It was a salvage title from someone swiping the side of it but the car runs great. Clear coat is coming off from the repair on the body, crappy paint job I guess. Just needs new paint or a wrap with some regular maintenance. It definitely needs some TLC before its ready to go but Im all in on bringing it back to its former glory.

My ultimate goal is to get a short block from ZZP and a TVS while restoring the car to new. Going to be replacing everything I can as I go. This site is my go to for how to's and all info Cobalt.

I think you got a really good buy there. How bad is the damage? I would also think you could run a TVS on the stock motor for many miles before you would need a new block.

Damage has been fixed, thus the crappy paint and clear coat coming off a few years later. Ya definitely a good deal.

Welcome to the site. Yeah that engine has a lot of life left with only 85k miles, assuming it wasn't beat to sh*t. .

Previous owner did a compression check on it before installing and said it was good. I will check before I go tvs but for now its just fine.

Hey. I actually have a brand new short block. 2.1l with Carrillo Rods and 11:1 compression ratio wiseco Pistons. 0 miles on the short block. I was going to ditch my turbo build and do a crazy tvs build but may end up getting rid of the cobalt. If you want I can sell you my ready to go short block.

I wish. Right now Im getting the interior and exterior in order. Looking at getting the car painted and that is going to eat up most my budget for the months moving forward.
