Smile Just checkin' in!

Hey, my name is Cory and about a week ago i bought my first car! Black 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged Very excited to join the cobalt nation. I've already got a list of parts that I'm going to slowly put on over the oncoming years. Lemme know what you think!

Trying to find a nice looking lip spoiler but no luck, I love the look of the tjin trunk but its very expensive. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Intake - Is there a difference between a $50 ebay intake and a $250 injen intake?

Lightly smoked Taillights

Black instead of chrome headlights (leave the lenses clear)

Lowing springs - Liking the H&R's

Rims/Tire setup - Looking at Enkei PF01SS's Haven't decided on tires yet.

Stereo deck with a screen like the Pioneer Avh series

Subwoofer/Amp setup - Kicker L7 and what ever GOOD old cheap amp on e-bay

Shift boot/Shifter knob because both of mine are worn out - Ebay

I know its not a very impressive list but as it is my first car and i am only 17 so i dont have much money and the car is plenty fast for me as it is. Also i gotta get better at driving before i give the car some more power - Driver mods before car mods!

Welcome! Looks like you have been doing some research. You will want to stay away from eBay performance parts like the intake.

not to make you mad... but..

some run a bmw ip spoiler, its a simple stick on that fits on top of the trunk nicely. otherwise no other options really short of perhaps modifying a lowrise... google "cobaltss __" to bring up very relevant threads to this question.

intake: yes there is a huge difference. do NOT **** with cheap intakes, these cars are finicky with different intakes. try a zzp 2.5" or 3" intake. injens are good but zzps are better fit and better priced.

go ahead and tint your taillights its easy to unbolt them fro the inside of the trunk to do it right same for the 3rd brake and sidemarkers

google 'official retrofit thread' or aftermarket headlights and taillights thread to see hundered of options and lots of info on headlights

h&r springs give quite a drop many likeCM/PEDDERS/SSC springs

good luck finding the enkeis

pioneer avh series is very nice look at the general setero FAQ for finding what you need to install one properly

i fit a rockford fosgate 10" sub into my stock sub housing it works great and 110 on ebay
you do want to amplify it there are good threads on this too

some have had luck with ebay boots i'd recommend redlinegoods.com for all of you apolstery needs

good idea on driving it stock for a while they are plenty of fun out of the boxand as you get older you can slowly make it faster if you are responsible and safe about it

welcome to the forum noob

welcome! post up some pics via photobucket my friend. and if you want a new shift boot thats high quality, check out redline goods. thats where I got mine and it is beautiful. and the $60 shipped price isnt that bad either. also look into doing the airbox mod. saves a couple hundred and works just as well.

Be wary on eBay parts. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Welcome!

Thanks for the great feedback! I guess i shouldn't go anywhere near the cheap-o intakes off ebay than. I do want my car to be dropped quite a bit, H&R's are the only ones that i actually notice a drop (judging from pictures off a suspension thread) I found the enkei's (18's or 19's i forget) on ebay for $900 (for the set of 4) if i remember right, could they be fake? Also im looking at getting a 12" sub. Thanks for the link to redlinegoods, ill look into their stuff, im sure its higher quality than the ebay "suede" stuff. I'm looking at going to an autox event this summer, i hear they help allot with improving driving skills! Everyone is so nice and helpful on this site!

yours looks pretty nice!

remember though, having the rear sitting a little higher than the front is a good thing. it helps keep the cars weight planted on the front for traction that way, plus the bodylines compliment the car better like that IMO

if you plan to autoX you should definately check out powell racing parts. though pricey, he sells the absolute best handling mods there are for these cars. for most people i'd recommend a set of his springs and a rear sway bar for much better turn in. braided brake lines should help against brake fade for autox courses too.
