Need help

Hi guys! I am a new member from Texas. I am saving up money for a Cobalt SS. I think it will be a good starter car for me. But before I start looking, I was wondering which SS I should get. Either the supercharged or turbocharged SS? Any opinions?

Well, future plans as well as how long it'll take you to save up. I'd say just go with the SS/SC if you're somewhat strapped for cash as you're post makes it out to be. The SS/TC is a great car though and is much cheaper/easier to hit 400 WHP with.

I am willing to spend around 12k for a Cobalt SS. I will most likely have the money by the end of summer but I just need to know what I'm gonna get, before I get it. I prefer the Turbocharged SS but I don't really know yet. And I want someone who has/had an SS to tell me because they have experience and this will be my first car.

How experienced are you with driving higher horsepower cars? You say it will be your first? Get a base model and some lowering springs otherwise (assuming young since first car) your insurance will be insane. Also don't want to see another SS/SC or SS/TC wrapped around a tree

Well I've driven a TBSS with a cam and tune. I am looking for a Cobalt SS because of the fuel efficiency and it's fast for the mpg's it gets. But I will need it to travel from Dallas (where I live) to Sealy, Tx for Tuner School. And I am trying to save gas but have a decent car at the same time. I'm already a good driver.

Get the ss/tc then. With bolt ons and a tune you'll be at about 300/350 whp/w tq. More if you go with E85 but then MPG suffers. A common turbo upgrade is a ZFR which will put you around 400 whp on pump gas and it'll spool only a bit slower.

Sounds good to me. I am happy with a ss/tc but will be more happy with bolt ons, turbo upgrade, and tune. Do you know how much it will be for bolt ons, turbo upgrade, and tune? Like an estimate?

I'd get a SS/TC if your budget is 12k.
