New Guy Need Help Engine Change

I've also posted this elsewhere on your forum.

Mods and Admin please move it if you find it necessary

Hello Forum

I'm trying to help someone get his car fixed and we have concluded that he will need to change out his engine.

Broken Rocker arms and piston damage are the reason.

He has an '05 Cobalt SS turbo

My question to the forum is:

Will using a Vin F 8th digit engine work? Or will I need to search for one out of a car that has the Vin P in the 8th digit.

I was going to buy a engine out of a wrecked vehicle.

Everything else appears to be ok, turbo, exhaust manifold and other engine components like starter , alternator, power steering pump etc.

Want to put it all back to Factory Stock.

Any hep you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated ..I know nothing about these Hot Rod Cobalts.. I am a Ford Diesel guy.. Who likes stock and nothing fancy

TO CLARIFY
Cobalt is Supercharged.. My diesel is turbo charged . Sorry for the error

What I am asking is will the engine out of a car that is NOT supercharged work in one that has the supercharger. Will the supercharger bolt back up on the new engine and all the other things that come on a supercharged engine?

well im not sure about the VIN numbers, but if you want it to be back to stock youll need an engine out of an 05-07 cobalt ss or ion redline. theyre known as the LSJ engines and came supercharged from the factory. zzp might be able to set you up with an LDK shortblock and reuse your cylinder head. check out their website.

the 05 didnt come turbo. Can we tell if this is a LSJ turbo or is it a L61 turbo car? Where in NC are you located?

I need the one for Vin P in the eighth digit. I need the engine that came with the supercharger.

You sound completely unqualified to swap an engine. You don't seem to understand what you're trying to do or what engine your car has.

If you want the car to be back to stock youre going to need an LSJ engine. who cares what digit the VIN has in it. get an LSJ. an LSJ is the engine you need. the engine you seek is coded the LSJ engine. the LSJ is the engine that car came with. ummm, not sure how else i can put it. can a different engine be used, probably. ive heard of an LDK shortblock being used in a supercharged car. im sure the shortblock out of many different ecotec cars would work. are the pistons and rods and crank the same....? i dont know.

Check my "dunt dunt dunt" thread. someone was kind enough to link to a procedure for removing the engine out of a supercharged cobalt. its an LSJ by the way, the engine you need.

I figured it out .. And know which engine to help this kid find, so he can get his car fixed.
Now I have to find the right deal on a salvaged engine.
Thanks for your Slowbalt, and Flash...
