Isn't there a stage 1 tune or something on the TC Cobalt that gains you a good chunk of power just in the reconfiguration? Welcome to the site.

OP welcome to the site

jdbaugh1 yeah he could get gms1 sensors but a gm dealer would have to flash it unless it already has the blue bosch sensors on the intake manifold and the cold side charge pipe

how would I go about calling my dealer and asking them to reflash the car, just say that I want the gm performance flash? Thanks in advance

im not sure if they still do it or not anymore. maybe someone else can chime in and tell you. you would need the sensors first, in all honesty though, just find someone in your area with HPtuners and have them tune you that way. do that after you get your dp though because these cars are very picky with mods and to get the full affect from the downpipe a tune would be the best.

its not worth it at the dealer. they will charge you ~1000 for the tune and 3 bar MAP sensors. they aren't plug n play but need to be soldered to the harness.

You dont need the 3 bars anyway tbh. just get a solid tune from someone who knows LNFs and DI in general.

We still do it but you would have to either find a vin with it already unlocked and have someone you know enough to flash the ecm with that vin or pay for the full "kit". The kit comes with a authorization code that we use to call our software division to change what the database has saved for your vin. Once changed its like that for good.
Also may be hard finding a person who even knows about the tune kit. I have a vin that I used on my 08, so in theory it should work but youll have to get the plug and play sensors installed first.

edit: Thinking about it we do bcm reconfiguration changes for 50 dollars, I guess I need to call in and see if that's a option for the ecm. Never have asked before, always assumed we had to have the authorization code but since we don't on bcm changes I guess I need to see.

With a downpipe and a good HPtuners tune you can pick up a good chunk of power from stock. Worth doing IMO. Is the downpipe the most restrictive piece on the stock system?

yeah. downpipe and tune is really all you need. stock IC is good enough for stock turbo, unless you break it. Upper pipe can burst when cold, but i think thats overplayed. Intake if you want cool turbo noises, but stock intake is good to 400 whp and paper filters filter better than K&N etc.

I got my kit through CED back in 12 but the advice others have said is valid- just getting tuned by someone who knows what they are doing.
