Hey everyone! I've got a great intro story for you.

So I just bought my 2010 SS about a week ago, little over 29,000 miles. Anywho, 7th day I had it I did a pull in 2nd gear, shifted to 3rd, hit full boost ~20 psi, and BOOOOM!!! A cloud of smoke that would rival a NASCAR engine letting loose proceeded to exit my tailpipe with the utmost haste. So I drive the car, no, limp the car, to the dealership all the while screaming F*** F*** F***. As it turns out I have a nice little hole in piston 3, hence the username. What a warm welcome from the car!

Luckily the car came with only wheels and the GMS1 upgrade and this is being covered under warranty so I am now awaiting my fresh new motor install. So a rough start here, but at least I'm getting a complete new engine assembly! By the way I bought the car at Auto Showcase in Carol Stream. They were good about negotiating but yeah I still overpaid a bit but it's in perfect shape (aside from the engine presently) and I wanted the Crystal Red Tintcoat.

As for the less exciting stuff I am an adjuster for a major insurance company and have plenty of shop experience to go with it. I'm a bit put off about modding the car due to this recent incident but I'll be probing the forum for ideas while I nut back up.
Previous ride I have owned for 11 years is a 97 Civic EX Coupe forged internals, headwork, cam, etc about to get a turbonetics t3/t4.

Welcome, Im from Waterloo, IA...about 2 hours or so from you.

Pretty bad luck on the engine there. I had a similar issue only 2 weeks after getting mine but it was only a bad timing chain tensioner and some bent/broken valves. Hope they get it all straight for you.

Loving the rims

When I'm at home the Quad cities is about an hour drive for me. Make trips down there somewhat often.

Warranty lady called me today from the dealership. Shocker! There's some scoring in cylinder 3! She asked quite a few questions like what octane fuel I was running (93 duh). The GMS1 comes with a premium fuel only sticker for the fuel lid. Particularly odd was asking me about a stage 3 kit... Told her as far as I know GM only made stage 3 for the SC Cobalts, not the TC cars. She said a stage 3 kit is for off road use and wouldn't be covered if that's what I had. Should be OK though, I've never heard of a GM stage 3 kit for a turbo balt.

She also used some "good faith" language which I'm familiar with in my industry so regardless this should all pan out.

The day I called Auto Showcase to tell them what happened the car went from Pending to being marked as Sold on their website

That's what I thought but a little confirmation makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Anyone have any thoughts on putting a clutch in it while the labor is cheap?

Bump for my clutch question. If I get a new motor that is...

Also, nobody else from the QC? Only other SS I've seen in town is a black one.
