Heard about this forum from someone on the Corvette Forum. I have the former Consumer Reports test car, 2008 Turbo SS which I've used at VIR, M-O, Autobahn and Sebring. Have lent it at tracks to a number of GM engineers including John Heinricy. I'm retired from the Corvette Museum where I was Events Manager for 10+ years, created the HPDE program, project mgr for the track and created almost every event they run. I've been an HPDE instructor for 17 years for Audi, PCA, BMWCCA, Alfa and a number of track event promoters like HOD, Track Time, etc. Trained about 200 GM engineers and designers in track driving including the BG Assembly Plant assistant mgr.

The Cobalt is a fun track car, I probably should add here that I have been an HPDE instructor for 17+ years, over 20+ tracks for Audi, PCA, BMW and I was the creator of the Corvette Museum's High Performance Driving Program which led to my being project manager for the track there. I taught personally or supervised the training of 200 GM engineers and designers how to drive on track through a program that Tom Wallace (Corvette Chief Engineer at the time) and I put together and some of those engineers had Cobalt Turbo SS and they handled them very very well. I've run my SS on M-O, Autobahn, VIR and Sebring but my regular track drive is a 2006 Z06 that was originally a Consumer Report test car. It now has 116k on it, original except for a 10qt sump and I used it when I taught the assistant plant mgr at the Corvette Plant how to drive at VIR. Here is a pic of Nora Roper driving my Z while I'm in right seat instructing. BTW John Heinricy(GM Performance Div) driving my Cobalt at Sebring, street tires and brakes, was able to pass less experienced Corvette drivers on the outside of turn 17. In the right hands the stock car does very well.

Yes I still know people, no can't help with MPG. That's a chip I saved for a special case. I have enjoyed the hospitality and the tracks at MPG and have pics as well. Here's one
One pic is my Z on tri-oval and the other is the car on the MRC with a GM engineers cobalt SS on the side.
