Help
06 balt SS 2.4l
Ok so don't know where I'm suppose to post this but I'm in need of some help.. so I purchased car from a tow yard and it didnt have a key.. so I purchased new key and battery to try and start car and we'll it didn't start.. so took the car home to check the basics.. checked for fuel at the rail pressed shrader valve and fuel was fine so next check would be spark so pulled plugs and the were sparking so in the meantime I pulled the filter box and filter off and I have a lot of oil in my intake.. I don't mean just a lil oil I mean puddles in my intake.. also checked oil and it's milky but not milky like water im guessing it's fuel or something because there no oil in my water reservore.. I've checked for spark fuel and air and everything also check timing chain but it's fine.. my next check would be to see if valves stuck open or pcv valve blocked hope it's not the rings.. anyone please feel free to comment.. anything would help thanks

I wouldn't worry about the coil packs if you have already verified that you have spark. Were the plugs wet, like your injectors were stuck open? Are you sure the motor is in time? I would lean towards something being wrong with the head or rings with that low of compression unless it's jumped timing.

Yea id not waste money on coils, with that low of compression something is not right and Its not gonna run with compression that low. Do you have a picture of the oil in the intake? the 2.2 and 2.4 are bad about puddling "some" oil in the intake from the pcv system. Also have you tried doing a "wet" compression test and seeing if it improves?

help
I don't have a pic of the oil in intake but with the compression test the cylinders were pretty wet but I didn't pour any oil in them and I'm hoping it's not the rings or cylinders.. theres no oil around the motor or anything.. and whoever said they have problems with PCV valve thank you for clarifying that and where is the location of it.. I have the 2.4 liter no turbo no super charger 😭

When you did you compression test you did let the engine turn over enough times for around 5 complete compression strokes or for the needle to stabilize correct? If you're really only making 35-40 psi that engine is very unhealthy and I'm not even sure if it would run with that low of compression.

^^ curious, I personally want to see the needle near max on 3 strokes and maxed on stroke 4 for a healthly engine. Also since you said the cylinders were wet could you tell if it was oil or not? I have seen before if it was oil that the compression tester check valve can clog with oil. Id pull all the plugs, spin it over to blow out the cylinders, clean the check valve on the tester and try again.

Welcome to the site…
… and now for the question everyone else is wondering but are too nice to ask, why would you buy a car that has no key, needs a battery and doesn't even start? I really hope the answer is because you paid next to nothing for it.
