New member from Illinois

Just decided after around 8 months or so of owning my car to get on the forums here. So my name is Brandon and I live in central Illinois and I drive

an 06 ss/sc with 80k on it. Hopefully here soon I will be starting to modify the car from where it is now. Currently it is sitting with a gm stage 2, stage 3 pulley and an air box mod and that was all that I was told from the previous owner of the car.. I did have a couple questions and wasn't sure where to post so might as well do it here. The car came with a 3 inch zzp header and down pipe and I was just wondering if I should go with a full 3 inch exhaust on the car or get 2.5? My knowledge of performance starts with 4x4s and ends in diesel engines, not to familiar with these cars as of yet.. thanks for the help from advance and anyone in illinois I'd be down to meet up sometime.

Welcome. Whereabouts are you? I'm near Peoria. There are a couple autocross clubs in the area, if you're interested in that.

I live in pekin actually.. and thanks for the welcome. I'm not to sure if I want to venture into the autocross scene but I wouldn't be opposed to it

It's pretty fun for not a lot of money. One club has events at the Pekin airport and Mossville. The other club is mostly in Rantoul.

Here are the sites, if you'd like to come and check out an event.

Im right across from St. Louis in O' Fallon, IL. Nice balt.

Ive got a ZZP high flow catted downpipe with a 2.5" ZZP catback and absolutely love it. I got it with the resonator. Very deep and not raspy at all.

Welcome aboard.

Welcome.

As for your question, I believe the general consensus is that unless you are pushing 350+whp, a 2.5" catback would be ideal. And if I understand correctly, the stock exhaust won't restrict you until those 300+whp levels. Changing the exhaust will give you a better sound, if that's what you are looking for, but for performance, there's better bang for your buck elsewhere.

Please educate me if I am incorrect, everyone.

Thank you, that answered my question very well. I was just not 100% on what would be best for flow and sound.. I haven't had a car for performance for quite a few years since I sold my old rx7.. been driving jeepssince I turned 16.
