New member from Mexico

Hi to everyone, im from chihuahua mexico, in a few days i'll buy a 2006 cobalt ss/sc, sorry for being a member without the car already but i need some help, here in mexico the cobalt was not commercialized and i cant get parts here, im close to el paso so its possible for me to get the parts, but i have a question, the car is leaking oil from the union between the engine and the transmission, i think is the rear crankshaft seal, i need to know if the engine from the pontiac g5 (L61 2.2), can be compatible with the Cobalt engine? or if some engine can be.

Sorry for my english, would appreciate your help.

Welcome, how many miles are on the car? I would not swap a 2.2 into a 2.0. I am pretty sure nothing will work computer trans etc. I am sure someone with more knowledge will chime in.

TurboTech was incorrect. the engine in you SS/SC is a 2.0L SC known as the LSJ

the pontiac2.2L is an L61

many parts are compatible across all ecotes however the engine/trans is not

Guys I don't think he's asking whether or not he can swap the whole engine with a 2.2L. He is just trying to find out if the seal that is leaking is a common seal between the two engines so that he can get that part and put it on his SS/SC.
