New member with Quick question

Hi all! New member here from the bluegrass state with a quick question.

I bought an 07 SS/SC last summer and do not know a great deal about cars. I have read up on here about some of the more popular upgrades and am wondering how i can tell if my car has any, specifically the Stage 2. Is it as simple as using a ruler to measure the diameter of the pulley? Mine is very close to exactly 3" (couldn't really get the most accurate measurement).

The one obvious mod i noticed before i bought the car was the Injen intake so i am thinking that combined with the pulley size could mean it is already stage 2? (I know the CAI is not part of the stage 2 kit, but have noticed on here it is popular to get both).

thanks

The way to notice if it has a stage 2 or aftermarket pulley would be to look at the pulley itself and if its attached to the supercharger with 4 or 5 bolts, then it's not stock. If the pulley looks pressed on with no bolts holding it to the supercharger then its a stock pulley.

thanks man, looks like mine is not stock after all. I'm coming to the realization that whoever had this car before me drove it like a 16yr old - only 74k miles and its on its third engine. I had to replace it 2 months after I bought it, luckily I decided to get the extended warranty so it was covered.

If it does have a upgraded pulley and its gone through 2 engines, it sounds like it can be a bad tune or maybe no tune with the wrong pulley size.

True, that's scary.

Let's see a picture of the injectors and pulley.

thanks for helping me out, I'll post a picture of the pulley when I get home, but the injectors are not easily visible, right? What do I need to do to get a good look at them?

Just unscrew the plate thing that says "Supercharged" or whatever above the fuel rail.

so I couldn't get a good photo of the injectors but they are black. The pulley is silver with 5 bolts. I cannot figure out how to put a photo in here from my phone. Do I need to find someone who can tune this?

Use the Cobaltss app to post a pic from your phone easily

Silver pulley/5 bolt is definitely aftermarket

If it already has aftermarket injectors and a different pulley, it probably has a tune done already.

Does it rev past 6500rpms?

well I haven't tried... Like I said I don't really know a lot here, so at the risk of sounding stupid I have to ask, to find out if it does rev past 6500 would I just put it in neutral, stomp on the pedal and see what happens?

Probably better to try it in gear (driving), the gauge can be pretty laggy and I don't want to condone revving the car on the limiter in neutral.

You for sure have some mods that would require a tune though, so you most likely have a tune unless the car runs very poorly.

I wouldn't romp up to the limiter until nearly everything can be diagnosed. Wouldn't want to be responsible for a noob popping his motor when it's in a questionable state.

Pics don't work.

Does the car run/drive normally or are you having problems with it?

if you right click and then open in new tab or right click and copy image url, it will take you right to them. they are all in my only album on here too so you could just go straight to my albums.

anyway as far as i know it runs okay, but i have nothing to compare it to except completely different makes/models that i drove before this one. however as it is on its third engine in less thank 75 k miles, i would think there is something that may not be obvious, but could be doing damage over time?

Yeah that's a smaller pulley and not stock injectors but we knew that from your description. Best bet at this point if you are really curious, is to find someone with HPT to log the car and make sure everything is correct, and they could examine the tune also.
