Just bought a 2006 Cobalt with the 2.4, I am not to satisfied with the power so far and i was wondering if there is a good amount of parts for this motor or should I just start saving for a turbo model? And where should I start in terms of upgrading this? cold air intake? HELP!

 

There's a good amount of parts available. Going with one of the forced induction models from the start would've been good.

Go with a turbo kit and you'll have all the power you need.

 

m62 is less than a grand for a good kit and should make it plenty fun to drive.

 

If it was me, I'd leave it stock and save until I had enough for an SS/TC.

Id turbo it, 2.4 makes better power than the 2.2. I sold my 2.2 and bought a HHR SS and a srt4. Looking back I wish I woulda kept the 2.2, turbo'd it and made ok power and bought a bike intead.

Well you have two of the biggest parts suppliers for our platform right in the state! Look up ZZP or OTTP. ZZP has a turbo kit made specifically for the 2.4. Best of luck!

 

Welcome to the club! If all your looking for is max power you bought the wrong model but unless your looking to keep it and start building I'd say hold off on a intake

Turbo kit from ZZP is pretty good. Wouldnt turn up the boost too much on the stock block. Get a good HP tune from someone. Should make you happy.

tvs 2.4? i did one up locally that ran on e85. thing was wicked

 

This may be a stupid question but why do you guys run it in 85? Isn't that less octane? And how about exhaust? Is there any good deals on them?

 

You can make more power on E85. Car needs tuned for it though.

 

e85 is more octane. exhaust would depend on what you want to do with the car

 

E85 is more octane. 94-96 about.

Do you get worse gas milage? how much more horsepower does it create off the bat? and what all do you have to change to use it correctly?

 

You wont get worse gas mileage. And how much HP does what create? And just like every modifiation, you need a tune to maximize the effect of it.

 

im guessing he means e85. stock injectors dont flow enough to make the switch. e85 is a little less mileage because you use more but its also cheaper per gallon. how much power you make depends on the tune. only killer to running it is having to plan everywhere you go
