Timing Chain Noise After Replacing Tensioner :(
Timing Chain Noise After Replacing Tensioner :(
I replaced my timing chain tensioner today and I went to start my car after and it had a terrible noise and would not stop and my car went into low power mode and started missing and my car ran fine before I changed this part now it's horrible. My buddy is thinking that somehow it possibly jumped time but he's not 100%... I really need help I've had the car a week and now it's just sitting in my driveway and I'm pretty sick to my stomach about it.
sounds to me like you didnt set the tensioner....... if the tensioner was retracted/locked and only sticking out a little bit. and you jsut spun it in then chances are you fired the car without tension on the timing chain. if it started missing and what not then i can guarentee it jumped time.
what did you do to install the tensioner? did you hold the cams and such?
