Honestly the better option is to swap over to aftermarket completely with zzp suspension parts. They have lowering springs, coil overs, rear sway bar, front strut bar etc. For struts you can go with kyb excels or sachs brand struts. Rear shocks bilsteins or you can still get fe5 gm shocks for sale on rockauto. Also with all those upgrades are you going to upgrade your old worn out bushings, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, sway bar bushings? If you want the most out of your new suspension you will have replace all those old worn out bushings. I went through this entire process and redid all of my suspension including engine mounts and tranny mounts.
Yes exactly! Check out Ecotec ZZPerformance and Welcome to Over The Top Performance -

all suspension setups for the cobalt will retain the twist beam. No version of these came with independent suspension.
