100 shot or am I crazy for even thinking about it??

guys I love nitrous and I have a LOT of experience with nitrous. Ive had 4 cars before all with a 100shot or more. I also do all my own work and I never cheapout. Every safety switch and option I can get i always go for. I always go wet kits also.
my SS/SC is on a stage 3 pulley and ported blower, cai, (will have header back 3inch exhaust soon) but for not it has home ported manifold and megan catback and 60lb injectors and a great tune. I have 3/4 of a nitrous kit laying around *10lb bottle, msd window switch, lines, hoses, heater, switches ect ect. I normally go "ring" or "plate" kits but I wont this time.
Can thing thing handle a 100shot safe? or just forget the idea? and I dont use it very often because its my DD.

Never heard of a 100 shot on a SS/SC. I've seen people run 75 shots, but even that's pushing it.

the only time I ever use anything under a 100 is either testing and tuning. playing around with different combo or I used to use a intercooler sprayer my old srt-4 and then a 50shot to help the turbo spool off the line. I just dont see anyone even close to a 100shot on here

if you just put in some forged pistons you could go 100+ dont pass 500 on the stock bottom end if you wanna keep it together for DD

you can do forged piston without removeing the engine, put in pistons, multi layer steel headgasket, headstuds, arp rod cap bolts. all for about $1000

see my build thread here.

get all the parts here.

https://www.turbotechracing.com/prod...dCategory=5616

if you wanna do it right, you'll need to get that head cnc ported and springs and retainers. but thats gonna run you another 1500 but is well worth it.

With a return style fuel system, proper injectors and a 255 fuel pump with great tuning you can spray a 100 shot on stock internals.......You could probably even get away on a 125 shot, but that might be pushing the limits. I sprayed my car 2 times on a 90 shot and it held fine, the clutch didnt like it though, i was going to upgrade to the above items and spray the 100 shot. I was told by numerous people with those items i would be fine. Everyone needs to remember these cars are capable of good numbers on stock internals with proper tuning. Just watch your AFR and use all the proper items with your setup to prevent things from going BOOM.

dont you think a 3" exhaust is a little big? As i recall at that size you start losing power.

3 inch would be great for a nitrous setup or to move alot of that air coming in....Up top its the best way to go IMHO

Not necessary at all... The lsj pump flows better than a 255 and a return system is just a waste of time money and effort. The fuel pressure will no be an issue.

BOOOM !!!
Anything more then 50 shot on stoc internals is asking for it. A guy was running 50 all day long then upgraded to 75 and boom the internals went. Upgrade to a better piston and you should be able to do 100. But be careful

Why are you guys so afraid of nitrous on the LSJ? The only peple blowing up an LSJ on nitrous are idiots who do it without tuning.

With a 2.7 pulley on the M62 I have personally run a 150 shot with C16 on the 100% STOCK bottom end. No problems. You can get away with a 100 shot on pump gas all day long. Trust me. Just make sure you can back your timing down a few degrees with HPT or you will run right into lots of knock.

Hell right now I have a Harrop with a 100 shot on my car. Granted there are new pistons, my own ported head, and new rod bearings in there.

A 150 shot on the stock bottom end was responsible for these two videos in my Ion.

Say that when the stock pump craps out......If you havent played with nitrous alot, i wouldnt say anything about the items i listed, cause to save your motor on pump gas on stock internals, they are needed. I have ran 3 nitrous setups on this car and i would have loved a Return style on my car and a pump that flows better. It would make tuning so much easier when spraying a big shot.

What are you talking a 300 shot or something here?

A 150 shot (meaning a .032 fuel jet) and some maxed out 60s STILL wouldn't lean out the stock pump. Seen it first hand. Maybe the Redline just has a better stock fuel pump? But we know that's not the case. Returnless with the stock pump is just fine.

i had a buddy with a stage 2 ss/sc and he ran 100hp shot... i would recomend getting the Dyno Tune 2stage window switch nitrous set up.... stage one is 25hp dry in 1st gear from 3,000rpms to 6000rpms... stage 2 is both a 25hp dry and a 75hp wet at the same time in your remaining gears from 3,000rpms to 6000rpms... great kit, had it on my 2.2 for a while.

It is fine to run a 100 shot, there is a guy up here running a bone stock cobalt SS w/ adjusted rev limiter to 7000rpm and a 125hp wet shot, he just finally took it to the track this last weekend and tried for some times, (stock tires) 13.7 @110mph activating it only in 3rd gear for traction. The car has been running this on the street for quite some time. Just make sure to tune out any knock and you will be fine.

a good rule of thumb for nitrous is no more than 20hp shot per cylinder
