Well I rally raced to work and wow the stock suspension is tight...

I'm actually talking to a couple people who custom made oem headlights with projectors... I think I may go that route cuz I concur those aftermarket ones have too much going on with led's and neon. I just want plain headlight with a projector I drove last night and these bulbs dont throw much light :/

damn I had to work on my car the other day... something underneath didnt feel right....

devin, do you have HID's? post pics!

Ok cool. Yeah I want to see these on a balt. Its a diff story looking at them just sitting there and then on the car. Jeff was right though, chrome on the white SS flows...black may throw it off. What K hid's do you have?

i believe they are the 1000k hid bulbs. the high beams are standard bulbs from the stock headlights. what's really nice with what i've got is the chrome with the hids and the angle of the headlights reflect the light so it's got more than 180 degrees of lighting in front of the car. and the led lights runnin across the top surprisingly make a decent difference too

Forget the headlights.. the first thing you need to do is lower that thing.

eh thought about it, but with winter here not sure if I want to go lower. Plus I drove crazy on the way to work and the stock springs are stiff! I dont even know if it needs suspension.

oh so the real blue ones? I think I had like 6000k on the ms3, real white. Id do that again I think... I just want to see **** omg these bulbs blow ass. I would get the HIR bulbs (not rice ones but the ones for john deere tractors from GE) but they are only 9005 and 9006? idk but the cobalt is 9007 I think and uses 1 bulb for high/low (like my vibe) and they dont work in the SS so ugh How is the HID install? I fear cutting wires on a new car...but tapping them would be ok...

i didn't wanna cut mine either but i had a good mechanic friend of mine do it at friendly chev on the side and it took like 10 min and maybe 2 cuts per headlight. we could just match mine on yours if you did it. he had to look up the wiring diagram for the stock headlights in their system to make sure it was right cuz they don't come with instructions or mine didn't at least

Well P, 5th Gear tested the Focus RS vs Evo X (around a track)....and the X won.

And the SS/TC was as fast as the Evo X around Laguna Seca so in the end your driving a car faster than the Focus RS

I still got love for the car but the numbers dont lie...I mean we never did get to hear what the RS archived for a lap time around the Ring, so I'm assuming it must have been slower than 8:22

Whats slowing the RS down is its weight...

Focus RS:3,234 lb

Cobalt SS/TC: 2975 lbs

That's a difference of about 260lbs stock....

Megane R26.R: 2,711lbs

The MS3's weight also adds up in the end....hell, the damn HHR was catching up.

Ring lap time.

8:22 --- Chevrolet Cobalt SS
8:39 --- Mazdaspeed3
8:43.5 - Chevrolet HHR SS

WTF jeff different drivers and the difference was 1 second?!?! and your bitching?!!!

yeah but jeff that MS3 was driving by a person who had NEVER driven the ring. while the HHR and CSS both were driven by an experienced driver of the ring. I honestly think the MS3 would complete with the CSS in time if driven by the same guy.

Im not bitching ....I was trying to cheer you up by saying your driving a car faster then the RS and Im really starting to believe it. Those UK guys never were able to drive a SS/TC so to them the RS is the king FWD.

Ok ok. The CSS will probably be one of the best fwd cars. MAINLY because of weight. Now I love the ms3 too, but it is heavy but I think the torq it has makes up for it. Like I said the ms3 feels faster, but my SS isnt broken in. to counter that though, the CSS has crazy gearing so theres less shifting.

I still think its a very close race between the ms3 and CSS and I would love to have a race between them with similar skilled drivers because all the times we have now are f'd up.

I would agree the RS platform/drivetrain would kill a CSS if it wasnt soo freaking heavy. After seeing road course racing and ryan gates's evo the whole lightening up the car makes complete sense! The RS is heavy as **** compared to what it should be (2 door, but heavy like a 4 door). All stock though I think the SS/MS3/RS would run neck and neck. But we get the cheaper of them all BUT modded you know the RS would take it hands down. Its not a direct injected engine so it can easily go over 400whp unlike the ms3/css.

Have you tried driving your 'Balt yet with Competitive Mode engaged yet... If not... DO IT!!!! Huge difference!

Oh yeah, and I probably won't get my 'Balt back until Monday or Tuesday. The grille and front bumper cover won't be in until friday...

If you douches would answer if any of you are going down to Uni in the appropriate thread... I will be showing up in a queer Subaru Legacy.

Yes I have turned on competitive mode but didnt feel a difference really.... like I said though I'm only at 300 miles and I hear it doesnt really open up until 1000.

But my ms3 has over 20 more torq than the SS so its deff noticeable.

You will. The biggest difference that I feel is going through turns/corners (like turning in an intersection and flooring it). With Comp. Mode on, the car does what you ask of it. When it's off, you feel the car bog down cause the car is making sure that it maintains 100% traction. It's annoying as hell.

Wait until you break her in. You'll see what I'm saying.

Competition mode ups the threshold for the stability control. It's less likely to turn on with a hard corner. That's the bogging down you're feeling in a hard corner with it off. It's fun as hell in the winter to mess with though. It's weird feeling the car correct a spin before you can.
