you could, but you would have to get tuned w/ hptuners. if you dont, you could be running lean in your higher rpms, and what usually happens when our cars run lean is you blow your #4 cylinder, which isnt fun
You could throw a 2.9 on w/ a stg 2 gm tune and be fine, but 2.8 i believe is too small for stg 2 injectors. The only way to be sure is to get tuned w/ hp tuners and check your IDC level/
so that has nothing to do with the ecu reprogram right...i would have to have it tuned once all the mods are on it? and also i wont need to throw in a aftercooler or meth / water injection kit??
jordan where did you find ur 2.9 pulley cuz all i am finding are 3.0 and 2.8...no one has 2.9
where did you get urs tuned???

Yes you need to tune as soon as you put on the mods. You will need some kind of cooling mods and water/meth injection will cool and give you more power.

GM tunes your car for the 3" pulley. if you go w/ a 2.9 you may run a little lean in higher rpms. Technically from what i have been told, the smallest pulley you can go with on 42.5 pound injectors is 2.85, and that is pushing your IDC (injector duty cycle) around 95%, which usually you wanna keep it around 80-85% IDC. And thats w/ a tune.
If you just threw a 2.8 on a stg 2 tune, and injectors, I can almost guarentee that you are going to run lean in your higher RPM, especially after 5k rpm. When you run lean, you short your cylinders fuel, if you short your cylinders fuel, **** can blow up.
Here it is in short:
2.9 on stg 2 tune, yes, thats fine because u may run a lil lean.
2.8 on stg 2 tune, no, (i wouldnt) because you are gonna run lean.
2.8 on hp tuners tune, depends on the IDC level. It could be possible, but you would need to make sure the injectors can handle it.
I will most likely go with a 2.9" pulley and get tuned by hp tuners or i am just thinking about buying it just so i can get tuned and mod away. I would rather run a lil rich on a 2.9 than a lil lean on a 2.8, just so I dont reck anything.
not necessarily. you only need to start with cooling mods once you go under a 2.6-2.7" pulley. a 2.8 shouldnt need cooling mods. It wouldnt be a bad idea if you plan on going with a smaller pulley, but isnt needed.
