2007 Cobalt Road Track Day

After some discussion with some other Members, I would like ( with some help) to organize a CobaltSS.net Road Course day. This is just in the concept stage right now, as I am taking suggestions for which tracks to use, and checking availability.

Possible Locations So far:
BeaveRun Beaver Falls PA. http://www.beaverun.com/
Summit Point VA. http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com/
Watkins Glen NY. http://www.theglen.com/
Lime Rock. LakeVille Ct. http://www.limerock.com/index.htm

The most promising looking location so far is BeaveRun, as of now

Mods. Is this Stickable???

I would prefer BeaveRun, just because I'm trying to become an instructor there so I need as much track time there as possible and funds are going to be limited for racing this year.

Have you watched any of the Grand-Am cup races???? Those are road courses. i.e. it's a racetrack where you turn more than left and go in a straight line.

^^^Speaking of, should we include mid-Ohio?????

LOL, I should also mention BeaveRun instructors are very familiar with Cobalts. I was the first Cobalt and first LSJ powered car to run there. Last time I was there I had instructors fighting for my car...so we're typically well-received there.

BeaveRun hasn't released their 2007 schedule yet as far as I know. They usually have 1-2 open track days a month, $165 to go, you get about an hour to an hour and a half of track time throughout the day, also some classroom instruction on what it takes to drive a road course and vehicle dynamics (how to get out of a spin, when NOT to hit the brakes, stuff like that). You'll also have an instructor with you at least for part of the day, if you've had a good number of track days and your instructor thinks you're competent you MAY be signed off to solo for a few sessions as well.

Hmmmmm probably not doable just because of liability and instructor fees, probably cheaper to "share" the track with an open lapping day, BUT they DO let car clubs come as a group and get preference for registration (i.e. x# spots in each run group for Cobalt people). I'm good friends with the people at BeaveRun so if it looks like that might be a possibility, I will see what can be done.

I'm in

I'd drive a few hundred miles to do a different track.... count me in!!!! I'd be willing to pony up $125-$200 for the day depending on amount of track time....
I'd think if we get 15 -30 cars we could get the track for the day (weekdays are cheaper)
I'll take vacation time to do this.... beginning or end of week so I could use the weekend to get there or back
I'd love to do mid-ohio (not too far), second choice for me would be VIR
closer to me Gingerman(MI), Grattan (MI).... Blackhawk(IL) and I dream of Road America(IL)

let me know

I'm only familiar with BeaveRun, but there are two hotels Holiday Inn and Beaver Valley Motel within a mile and a half of the track.

As for me, I gotta do something that's a do-able day's drive from Pittsburgh or someplace where I have family close by. I can't afford track time, plus gas, plus hotel.

I'd be interested in going to do a Mid-Ohio trip. X-Cellent track...

VIR is good looking as well.

BR is great, while not as long or complex as those, but those are both BIG BIG name tracks.

I am not sure about doing a track day yet in the car, but I'd consider it.
