Anybody with Hptuners in DE area want to retune my car?
Hey all,
Made a post in the tuning section but i will probably find better answers here. I have a BYT tune on my car currently and I want to get better driveability out of the car. Right now the tune is alittle too close to on/off switch for my taste. I can go partial throttle to maybe 40%, but 50% and up the boost swings causing unsettling surges of power and makes the BPV open and close until im 100% throttle.
Tune pulls hard currently but beats up the stock clutch. I think I want my boost to increase gradually across the throttle 0-100% instead of "on/off" switch at 50%...
My goal is to have a tuned car that feels like it was made from factory that way. Driveability is key, I dont want my clutch roasted and I dont care for a really cool massive torque spike in the lower rpm. Currently I have 24psi right now and Im okay with that, i'd be okay with 20-24 psi tune as long as the car has improved driveability for daily driving.
So is there anyone in the Area that can help me out? I know you guys cant throw #s out there so send me a PM. Looking for a pretty reputable tuner that people will stand behind.
Thanks.
Also, what does a retune go for these days? I havent a clue, its been like 3-4 years. If my PCM is unlocked by HPtuners already do I have to pay that HPtuners fee again? Does that change per software? Again thanks.

hey Joe, unless you go back to BYT (where your car is unlocked on his HPTuners) then you'll have to pay the $100 for the credit to unlock it on another HPTuners software on top of whatever the new tuner will charge for his services. as for tuners in the Delaware area, other than BYT, i'd recommend Race Proven Motorsports. they should be more than capable to give you the proper tune you're seeking..... heck, maybe even consider dropping down to the GMTU setup, that could be a decent option for you.
hope all is well.

Im in Newark DE. I maybe alittle too picky. I mean Ive only driven this one tune and the tune before it. It might be a case of the grass is always greener. I guess what I would need to do is let someone drive it and tell me if they think it could be better lol.

ive done a good 80% my tune/logs via email. Its nothing to really worry about, you have the tuner on the phone and its back and forth for a couple of hours and your good.
for just a boost ramp thing, im sure that will take an experienced tuner jus 1 tune and a log and that will be fixed.
Depending on the $$ situation i say buy HPT and just have it done remotely. John up in CT is a good LNF guy and then u also have Term2.
Perks of having HPT is that if anything goes wrong u have the software to fix it, and adjust w.e you need at any point and there is really no relying on someone else to have to be there to fix stuff.
I wouldnt dare touch my tune, but over the past year or so i have learned some things here and there and now im able to tweak my maf table and little things like that so im not 100% dependent on my tuner.
just some food for thought lol
