Got a tint ticket :(

So I was following my gf's parents down the parkway to Pt. Pleasant from Linden. On the way we passed a ton of cops going ~70-75mph. So we're in the right lane with 1 car between us. That guy goes to get off onto an exit ramp and last minute swerves back onto the parkway and cuts me off. So my choices are 1) slam him in the ass or 2) get around him. So I decide to get around him. Problem is, another guy is doing maybe 95-100 in that lane and he's about to hit me cause now I'm cutting him off. So I slammed on the gas to avoid getting hit in the ass and just then BOOM a cop pulls out and flips his lights on to pull me over. I wasn't expecting it to be me because when we passed, there were 2 trucks blocking his vision of me so he shouldn't have me on his gun. Anyway, as he's walking up to the car he smacks my spoiler for no reason and procedes to be the BIGGEST dick to me and my gf. So I explain to him what happened and he says I was doing 82 and "You should have gotten on your cell phone and told her parents to pull over and instead of avoiding the accident, you also should have pulled over." So I tell him, cell phone is illegal while driving so he's like "well she should have done it then". I'm thinking "Alright douchebag, go write me up and get off my case". So he comes back with a ticket for my 15% tints WHEN MY WINDOWS WERE DOWN THE WHOLE TIME. I have no idea how he knew they were tinted but good for him. However, he gave me a written warning for "Excessive Speed" and let me off on the speeding (I assume because he didn't really have me on radar). The end

tl;dr - I get pulled over for speeding because I was avoiding an accident. Cop was a douche and I ended up with a tint ticket.

Sucks dude but it happens to the best of us! He probably saw the tint in the rear window. How much was your ticket and how dark is your tint?

they cant prosecute that cuz theres no evidence...take it to court...he didnt get a measurement of the darkness of ur windows nor did he see any evidence of tinting on your front windows...end of story

^^^ this has to be true

The copy would have to come to court and lie and say he checked it. But he didn't so what he did is in fact illegal.

that does suck. i want my windows tinted but i already have a previous ticket for the same thing and in IL an officer said that after the 2nd offense you get thrown in jail? if anybody knows this is true or not, i'd like to know. i doubt it but i don't want to push my luck.

i think as long as you roll your windows down when you get pulled over it should be no big deal. sorry to hear about the dick cop.

The ticket doesn't list the price. It tells you to call them. Upon calling I got a machine telling me to head online to find out. I went to the website and apparently my ticket isn't on there yet so I have no idea of the price. My tints are 15%

In NJ you can't have any tint on the front windows, period. He doesn't need to measure it.

yes but if he cant see tint and the windows are down, then technically you aren't operating the vehicle with window tint.

in order to issue a ticket the tint has to be in plain sight (on the front windows) which means if theyre down he cant make u put them up

Yeah i think I'll go with legal (35%) next time around.

Might still get pulled over, but maybe not. At least I won't get an 80 dollar ticket

its a $54 ticket, no big deal, its just money that could have gone elsewhere, but if he didnt have you roll your windows up and actually look at them, then the ticket will be thrown out cz like someone said, they need to see it, how else would he know that you have tint on the front?

yea cops can be douches sometimes. i got pulled over like 10 seconds away from my house for doing like a 2mph roll past a stop sign. i understand you have to come to a complete stop but seriously this guy had nothing else to do or was having a really bad day.

sorry man. i've gotten 2 tint tickets on my s/c ss. each were $128 and they go on your record as a moving violation so be ready for your insurance to jump. i have a clean record besides 2 damn window tint tickets which i guess is as bad as running a stop sign...

Cops here are ********. I got pulled over for having 5% all the way around by a ******* cop car that had 5% all the way around. Yeah dude. I have a very negative sentiment towards cops. I think traffic and crime should be 2 separate divisions of law enforcement. I NEVER buy the "I dont make the laws I only enforce them" arguement. Thats total bullshit, if you decided to make it your life, your CAREER, to enforce those laws for $11.25/hr, you wholeheartly believe in them and dont deserve my respect. Cops should be out fighting crime, not ******* with people that dont want skin cancer.

Yea, it's still a bitch. I've only gotten 2 tickets but I've been pulled over literally 12 times for it. So annoying, should just be legal or a non-moving violation that they can't pull you over for..

Not bad, ours isn't even a "fit-it" ticket. I thought it was and I asked the cop how long I had to fix it and get it dropped and he told me it wouldn't change anything.

what oyu have to do is wire a Hidden switch to turn you power windows on and off, so if you do get pulled over, have your windows down, flip the switch and when the cop tells you to roll them up, say you cant, there broke!
