Lake George or Thomsons Lake Camping Meet!

Anyone into camping? I love to go camping and have a ton of camping equipment. Would anyone be down to go camping for a weekend, maybe get there on a Friday and come back sometime Sunday? I was thinking either Lake George or Thomson's Lake (both state sites). Lake George's campground is kinda crappy seeing as it's in the middle of the woods and not on the lake (its still nearby), but there's always the village to walk around at and such. Tons of stuff to do there. Thomson's Lake is by the water and has a beach nearby and stuff, but i'm not sure what else there is to do around there.

www.reserveamerica.com

That's the site I use to book campsites and what not. There is other places on there so maybe if you guys browse around and find a good place post it up. Anyone possibly down for this?

i love lake george, have been there many times. i went there last summer for vacation. i always wanted to rent one of the islands out in the lake, always thought that would be SWEET for camping. they're not that expensive either. all the campsites i've ever seen along the lake suck, and are either right off the road, or right on top of each other. if i'm camping, i like more seclusion. i normally stay in a cabin there though, but look into one of the islands that would be friggin nice.

The islands are sick but you need to rent a boat to get to them. Lake George Battleground is right off of route 9, but then again the village is right there too. Thomson's Lake is nice as hell, I personally like more seclusion myself and waterfront sites FTMFW!

The village is way to crowded and too touristy.

You have to rent an island and do some real camping.

It's real cheap last year it was $15 a day or something like that.

Huckleberry & Perch are great islands to camp on with some friends

The state sites are 15 a day too. The islands are sickkk but like I said you have to rent a boat and well figure 300 a day for the boat and then gas.. it's too expensive just to go camping. LG battleground (state site) isn't terrible, i've never been there before either. Get a bunch of 'balts together and it'll be a good time for sure.

yea, that's what i'm talking about. only way to go, if you're going to go camping. last year we went i think labor day weekend, and stayed the following week. everything we wanted to do was still open, but all the kids were back in school so it was nice and quiet.

majority of the camp sites on the water, but not on an island, are like 20 feet from the road, with other campers right on top of you. it's so not secluded or private, and kinda takes away from the whole thing. some of them don't even have any woods around. it's the street, a parking lot, your camp site, and then the water.

Folks, you want a nice place to camp? Lincoln Pond here in Moriah... we usually have mine and a friends' birthday parties up there. It's far for you Albany people, but Glens Falls and the area is not that far.

I've got next weekend off... what's the gameplan looking like with you guys?
