congrats on the purchase, they are pretty fun cars.
I would suggest getting the gm stg2 for now. it comes with pulley./injectors/belt and a crappy tune, then get an aftermarket tune to tweak things.
Cobalt Stage 2 Performance 245 hp Upgrade Kit 17803229 - Crate Engine Depot

I had the K&N intake, and had 0 issues with it, I had it on the car from the time it was about 2 weeks old up to the day before I traded it in...car was over 3yrs old and had 27,xxx miles on it and I never even cleaned it.

I had the gmpp performance catback has a great sound to it and it is pretty loud too.
Cobalt / G5 Cat-Back Exhaust System Performance 17802111 - Crate Engine Depot

I also had the gmpp honed header
Cobalt Extruded Honed Manifold 19131972 - Crate Engine Depot

and I had a downpipe with hi-flo cat from cobalt-addiction.com

Awsome thanks, I was checking out the Crate engine stage 2 kit earlier today. Guess i need to get a pulley remover. Can i run that with just an intake or do i need the full exhaust system? I would like to do tunes as I add things and then do a full dyno run/tune at the end.

but first I have to get this thing back to the dealer and have them figure out why the check engine light came on on the ride home...thinking it's because the damn dipstick keeps popping off.

you don't need an intake/exhaust, but it will free up a few hp.............and the intake will make the supercharger whine its ass off lol...ask winning blue, he bought my old k&n a few weeks back

Thats what I figured and I read that about the intake and it's going to be the first thing I buy. Was debating on either the K&N or the INJEN.

thats what im thinking, also on cold start up the clutch feels groggy when it engages also. Is that just because its cold?

does it do anything in anyother gears? My subaru would shutter when it was cold or rainy, but the clutch got screwed up when my main drive gear shattered but they wouldnt cover it. Could be few things, clutch, master cylinder or the trans itself. Im not a trans pro so its hard to say exactly.

Thats what I said, but start small and check your clutch fluid level. More than likely thats not it but you never know, that might fix the sluggishness on cold starts. Are you still under warranty?? 09, it should be covered.
