NJ Front License Plate Law?

Hey does anyone know if it's illegal in NJ to have the front license plate behind your front windshield? I'm getting a new front bumper and I want to know soon so I can tell them to not drill holes. Thanks.

It's actually illegal for you to put it in your front window, sorry to tell you that haha. I didn't put mine on at all, and I don't want to put it in the windsheild because it will draw attention. Just don't drive like an ass and you won't be bothered. I figure if a cop sees it in the front windshield he's gonna realize right away that you don't have a front lisence plate...beecause its in the window. If he doesn't see it at all, chances are he won't notice. Unless your doing something stupid

dont drill holes just ziptie it to the car

attach it to the mess in the bumper cover or the actuall bumper itself

when my fiance still had his bmw he got pulled over about 4 times for no plate. he used to just tell the cops that it came out of the body shop that day and the guys who painted the bumper told him not to put the plate on for another 2 days....worked like a charm every time!

In my monte carlo, My dad would never have the front plate on,and would pulled over all the time. However, in that car, the cops just seem to wanna talk about it rather then give tickets, so can't really compain here! No the Cavalier with the BomEX kit was a diff story. 4 tickets there Cops who give tickets for front plates = Spam

yea, jersey cops can be dicks, but it really just depends on the town/area i live by the George Washington Bridge area, and cops in most of these towns areound here are pretty much dicks. out west and orth more, twards Balt36's house, and my dads house (Sparta / Butler) cops are much more cool about things.

Yeah my area they aren't bad. However if you get those state troopers, they won't let you go for anything. So you are saying i'd be better off if I just didn't have a front licesnse plate at all? Or if I used the excuse "my car just came out of the body shop" Ahh I don't want them to drill holes!!! Rob, your car looks so good without the license plate. Maybe I should just move to Pennsylvania. I don't think they require a front license plate.

gee thanks to this thread I GOT STOPPED TODAY. going thru a seat belt check the cop asked me where my front plate was i showed it to him. luckily my mom was in the car and told him the front bracket broke. lol gotta love my mom. so hes like you have to get that fixed and let me go. Not even 10 minutes later i see him going back to the precint and he gave me a dirty look. So yeah the Suffolk cops are dicks too.

You can always use the excuse, i just bought the car and the dealership didn't have the bracket, so they ordered it for me it should be in soon, but its taking longer than it should.
