hey everyone ... this upcoming friday the 16th me and my friends are going to Island Raceway in great meadows new jersey. i personally drive an SRT-4 and yes i know this is a cobalt forum but i love the SS s/c so im on here and everywhere. call me a forum *****. if you need any info on the racetrack let me know . its there last night for street cars until march so the turnout should be decent. i personally am not running though but would love to see some cobalts come out. thanks

I wanna hit up a track this season, but my cars not quite ready yet. I'll probably have to wait til spring

 

I don't like Island that much but I may go just to watch...and it would be a niCe drive to break in my clutch (getting my clutch and lightweight flywheel installed this thursday). I'll see if I can bring my friends whippled terminator....he usually goes to Island.

 

Too far of a drive for me...Not tryin to thread jack, but I'll be hittin up Atco this Friday...

You thread Hijacker! lol Nah I was going to do the install myself until I realized i'd be out of a car for like 3-5 days with my little knowledge of a clutch install...so i'm letting ttp in Passaic do it....oh, and did I mention, he's dyno tuning my car for free...shhhh I didn't say that

But I'll see if I can bring some people to run if I go. I know some wicked cars around me

U friggin Know it! I'm actually heading up there to race my buddy with a GTI MK5. Were racing for a tank of gas. (I should be just about on E to keep the weight down lol)

But yea man, I'll be there this Fri.

 

If theres people goin, then I'm definitely in...I'll see if I can get a couple other people to come like last time.

What time does Island open up on friday? Man I wanna run so badly...but stupid new clutch break in and I keep forgetting....my axle is out of it's boot....Man, I must have one of the longest running cars on a damaged axle (at least I think that's what it is...grease is coming out of the boot on the sides...maybe it's just excess grease but I do have clunking noises)

Oh, I went a lil further back when there was a thread about a bunch of PA ppl meeting up and going over there, and then it rained by u guys or sumin....

 

Yo if you want, we can cruise over there together ....possibly hold hands out the window as well lol jk...but seriuosly I don't know how to get there...I asked Rob AND Sean if they wanted to go to Island, they both said "NO!"

 

I personally dont care for the track, kind of a **** hole if you ask me, but its close...I'm just used to Maple, E-town and Atco...got kicked out of the track years ago when I raced jr. dragsters, so havnt been back since...but then went with a few friends couple weeks ago..didnt race, just video-taped. But for those of you who plan on going, remember to bring a helmet...Jerzy laws apparently, found out the hard way haha...if you dont have one, you can rent them for $5....its $25 to race

It really is a **** whole! But Ive never raced at E-town knowing its better, just to many ppl there so U don't get to run as much when U go. I will also say Island's tracks aren't 100% flat. But its chill up there and ..... I donno It a little closer to my house? lol

 

Just checked the weather and its going to be cold (43 degrees) but it looks like its just going to be cloudy..cross your fingers for good weather...if it dont rain and nothing pops up last minute at work, I will be there

 

Yeah i've never raced at island...probably the only time I would is when all the other tracks are closed. All my friends say they can't hook and what not. Not too long ago, a brand new 08 viper crashed into the wall like 3/4 of the way down because he lost traction...I never raced at atco but would love to...and I love Englishtown....the only thing that sucked...every time I went, on my 3rd run, like 2 cars in front of me would spill oil or fluids and I would always spin 1st and 2nd without even trying

 

YESSSSSSSS!! I NEED COLD! I ran a 14 flat with mad humidity! Granted my clutch is slipping but I'm hoping to break 13's! I'm looking foward to meeting some new members.

Well, the box is ok. And the overall track is blah. I can't see it being too too bad but I have wanted to go to E-town for a while, just didn't feel like driving down there lol even tho i think Island and E-town are the same distance from my house lol

 

I'll bring my camera and take some video's....I wish I had a real video camera though
