yah they would be cheap if they were vinyls. I think they wanted $350 for the vinyl ones. I got mine painted on, so thats why they cost so much.

Wow... sounds like everyone had a blast last night.

The car cruise was NUTS and sadly... this is almost the end of it...

As of September 30th, the crusie is Irwin will end and will not return to that spot. THe owner of the property, is going to be doing renovations and will not have the place available for next summer.

We are all working on finding a new location that is LOCAL to the IRwin area.

Autocross was a blast today and at the same time ver scary... lots of cones hit and off-courses. Lots of very cool cars and lots of very slick places to go off on.

I did OK, and not sure where I ended up in my class, but most likely I ended up no better than 5th ( out of 7-8 cars ).

Justin ( points leader in the graphic-heavy STI ) had a very short day. On his 2nd run, he launched and broke a rear axle. Good thing he clinched the driver's points last event.

I had some great runs and had I not hit a cone here and there could've done alot better.

4rd gear sections getting me over 70mph!!! Tom in his WRX hit 95..

OH and you local cobalts/ions.... tom and I talked and he might be able to get us some nice wheels on a group[ buy specially made for US if anyone is interested.

We can talk more about that later... so tired, and wet....

Hey Brian,

Sorry I couldn't make it today. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. Between being out last night and the way I've felt all day, it just wasn't going to happen. I hate being depressed

Hey, no problem. My aunt adn uncle came out and watched my frist 2 runs. So at least I had someone there.

That's the MAIN reason I didn't go out there last night. I didn't want to be out late ( which I still was out until after 11PM ) and have to get up @ 6 and be beat.

Alicia.... got a classing question for you...

I noticed that you class in STS.... why is that?? What makes your car eligible for that class and NOT STX?? Looks like I'll be possibly moving on to SM next year if I do the Stage 2 kit. If that IS the case... then I'll be pulling out all the stops and making sure that I can at least keep up with everyone there.

OH... and in talking to some... get this...if they really want to be PITA's... they can put you into street mod ( SM ) for changing BADGES... or getting rid of them.... sounds stupid, but apparently that is in the rule book somewhere... if I can find it. I'll let you know where it's at...

Talk more tomorrow... off to bed.

Brian, I class in STX. That's where I initially thought we should be since we're 2.0 F/I. The guy at North Park said no, we should be in STS, so that's what we ran the first event, then someone said no, I was right, we should be STX. So that's what we went back to.

YOu'll be in SM for sure with Stage 2. Computer tune or pulley swap alone is enough.

Yes, debadging or rebadging can put you into street mod. Oh yeah, and Dan, you can be protested and put into street mod for the wing on the back of your car.

Isn't the wing an option with the 2.4 cobalt? If so, I don't think he'll have to bump a class. I think, as long as you have all options (in his case, SS body kit w/ or w/o OE wing), I didnt think you had to change. I could be wrong though...

It was not for 2006 on the 1SS. The SS body kit will keep him in street mod because it was not an option either. Because the 1SS and 2SS are different "models" within the Cobalt model, he has to have stock options, including appearance (exception being wheels if they are the same width and diameter as stock with OEM-sized tires).

Yes, the comments about the wing are correct... if he was to add that, and the car was otherwise stock.... that would throw him to thw wolves. He'd have to add everything that made that car come with that wing.... Just as if I wanted an LSD in mine, I'd have to add everything that was in the G85 to keep in stock class. If not... I'd be thrown into SM or some others...

DAVE>>>> Awesome pics from the waterfront. Beatiful night for it for sure.. that Yellow Cobalt looks a bit funny....
hehehehehehe

Later all!

Actually I believe you can order a 2.4L SS with the high profile spoiler. If you can order it from the factory like that, how would that move me to street mod? Not that I care anyway, I have enough other mods on the car to move me at least into STS or STX. By the time next summer rolls around and I really get into auto-x, I'll be in SM anyway.

LOL, the wing's actually the least of your worries, your computer is tuned. That's automatically SM. You can order the high profile wing from the factory NOW, but for 2006 you could not, so even without tuning you'd be in street mod. Just like if I were to swap my wing out with the lower profile, I would be in street mod. Even if you have the dealer install it, it still puts you in street mod. Like if you were to have the dealer order and install 18s on your car, that'd be street mod. You'd be in STS, you can't ever run STX you don't have enough displacement and/or factory boost (a turbo would put you in, once again, street mod).

Well, it was a team effort then... good job!

Man, I really wish the pavement was drier yesterday...I could've had some KICK **** runs.... Have to wait to see where I ended up in DS for the day... After the 2nd run, I was in 5th ( out of 7 or 8 ), so we'll see.

Beaverrun this weekend... ooooo yeah!

Well that explains STX... I didn't know the difference there. How come you ran STS with me that one weekend then?

I figured the tune would bump me. My dealer also told me that I could order an 06 SS with the high spoiler when I bought my car. I didn't want the high spoiler then, but he made it known that I could order a new car and get it when we were talking about the supercharged Cobalt. I know for a fact that the low pro spoiler was an option on the supercharged in 06 as well. I saw that personally.

Like I said before, once next summer rolls around, I'll be in SM anyway. It doesn't matter to me much anyway. I go just to run. I'm not expecting to come out number 1, no matter what class I'm in.

Actually......

For 90% of the people there, you never run into that. MOST people there are not looking to DQ anyone... they welcome the competition. NOW, if you are trying to decieve them and pull something on them, that's another story.

If they know a certain car should be in a certain class, due to it's mods or whatever... then I'm sure something would be said if you tried to pass it off as stock, and the tech people missed it.

Most people haven't seen under the hoods of the SS's and might never notice the Stage 2 pulley vs a stock one.... BUT the Intense 2.5...yeah, that would get noticed. If I did that and started wopping on the class all of the sudden, someone might protest, but otherwise.... who knows.

To each their own. I prefer A-x over drags if for NO other reason, than it's not as easy to break something doing it. Unless you have tons of power and r-comps and break an axle ( just like Justin's STI did )

You'll more likely see me there than at the drag strip next season for sure. I like both, just enjoy one more.

I think Dan was referring more to me being put into SM for a spoiler.... a spoiler that really has no functionality. I'm too lazy to check back, but didn't someone say something about the SS badges bumping classes? That's a little crazy.

ya that is just retarded.

also in drag racing i use the powertrain and shifting that is it...all I can break is go related

In auto x you have tires, brakes, suspension, high lateral g's on motor which can cause starvation issues...in one day of autox i see as much wear as I would in 10+ drag days.

but its on all 4 tires from autox instead of 2..autox is right behind open track days in level of abusiveness on vehicles...and I hate dealign with suspensions so its dragiing for me unless i do a free school autox....then I clean up there lol

Nothing wrong with mixing it up. A little auto-x, a little drag, and maybe even a little road course.
