Hey guys, I'm in Irwin. We have a car show/cruise every saturday just off the turnpike (irwin exit, west on rt30, 2nd light make left) so far I am the only one in an SS so come on out and hang for awhile.
Also, every thursday at Pittsburgh Raceway Park they have street wars. All street legal inspected rides from all over the area. I run in sport compact. Again the only SS on the track, sure could use some company.
Throw me a PM and we'll hook up sometime.

 

i live in the monroeville area and i was just up at pittsburgh raceway on friday for the sport compact shootout i didnt see any cobalts there ecept for my friends silver ls, i actually drive a 2002 celica gt-s but i do all the research for my friend who has a 2005 cobalt ls with plans for a turbo so what time on thursdays are these races going on i would like to meet up there it sounds cool, ive never ran my car before and neither has he so i would like to try it out, thanks

 

Every Thursday wheather permitting, gates open at 5:00
Time trials at 6:00, they try to get 4 TT's in before eliminations.

I missed the Shootout, had a few other things going on. Were there alot of cars?

I try to go to the Street Wars every week but do miss a few. PM me if your going and I will try like hell to be there. Maybe between us we can work out the launch problem.

Its gotta be thursday cause i gotta work on friday....but i dont even know how the **** to get there...maybe i could meet you somewhere and then just follow you? but that aint saying much cuz i never drive near pittsburgh and am terrified of all teh damn roads id definatley get lost

 

Pittsburgh Raceway Park is right along Route 22. It's not a bad drive at all, depending on which side of the city you're on.

 

Well maybe we all can meet up somewhere with whoever is interested

I signed up on here cuz i friend has a cobalt (4 door black), but i do all the work to it, Thus why Im on here to learn a couple things (he tells me what he want and i do it) plus im thinkin of a couple other ideas for it... Its basically just going to be for show.

Test N Tune / Street Wars.
Met ToMeGun on the 28th, had a blast, alot of fast cars.
Whats nice about having the test and tune is you get to see
some awsome machines, Nitro cars and bikes, bring ear plugs

 

Im going to OC next week so count me out.. Ill meet up with you guys sooner or later

 

i raced a cobalt ss a couple wheels ago from a roll....
i punched it from 3rd and he was in 3rd too about 5 cars in front of me on 51, i started to catch up then he downshifted to 2nd at the next light and took off like a bat outa hell...

i hear these SS's fall on their face after 3rd gear.. is this true?

 

NO, actualy they fall on their face in 1st & 2nd (gearing) 3rd & 4th they pull very hard.
80 to 140mph is a snap!! Most all races Ive won were from behind and anyone with ***** to race me for a 1/2 mile or more loses. Also, the handling is fantastic. These cars can easily take most turns at triple the speed limit, just don't hit the brakes, youll end up sideways. I raced a mustang a couple days ago on a back road, some straight sections but mostly turns and elevation changes. He was on my ass until we got into the curves, he didn't stand a chance, I lost him completely. I stopped to wait for him, he couldnt believe the car was stock. Anyway, the SS has no bottom end but goes like crazy on the top end!

 

I dont know about that i'd say first gear is pretty aggressive....you tap the gas barely and its like snap and your back in your seat

 

True, but its extremely short. I think it could use a few more teath and the gap from 1st to 2nd sucks, dont you think?

 

IMO i think that if you could raise the rev limiter to 7K that it would be fine...the people that ive raced 1st and 2nd gear is pretty much where i jump on the them, by 3rd ive pretty much already one the race and start pulling away

A little late again I know, BUT...

I just checked PRP's website, says this Thursday, 29 Sept., is the last Thurs. nite for racing. Doesn't say Street Wars tho... anyone still going?

 

I would really like to set up a group outing to PRP before the end of the summer...the only thing is it would need to be on a saturday. Other then that it would just be nice to find some other people in the area who own this vehicle. I have seen a handful but i cant ever catch anone on the same side of the road as me to ask them if they have done anything to the car, or if they have looked into parts for it. Keep posting here if you are interested in going out and terrorizing the great city of Pittsburgh with me one night.
I have an '05 Silver SS

 

LOL, I haven't seen a silver SS yet. I keep seeing one if not two other blue ones like mine and two red ones. I saw one yellow one but it was in Ohio. Those are the only SS's I've seen.
