Pittsburgh Auto-xers (and other PA'ians interested)...

OK, so I just got talking to my best friend's husband (some of you who met up with us back in the day at Starbucks will remember him as Jim) and was telling him about our auto-x excursions. He mentioned we should caravan up to the State College area, they're having a big 2-day event in July. Here's the deal:

This is Central PA SCCA region, they run at Mid-State Airport. It's about a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive from Pittsburgh.
Cost is $60 per person for the entire weekend, there will be more than likely 5 runs on Saturday, 5 runs on Sunday.
YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER AND PRE-PAY...registration is capped at 120 cars!!!!!
There is also a party and camp-out at the airport Saturday night, so no one has to worry about hotel accomodations.

I'm friends with a LOT of people that run up there, and it's a really awesome group. I think it'd be a lot of fun for all of us, and a chance to get out of Pittsburgh for a while (did I mention it's in the mountains and is typically a little cooler than our lovely mid-summer Pittsburgh heat?).

I'd love for us to be able to get a good sized group of people to go, I'm going for sure, so no one has to worry about being the only oddball out if they go and everyone backs out cause you'll have at least one other person going for sure.

Alleycat,

I'm definately interested... BIG TIME...

You and Melissa got me interested in it at the cruise 2 weekends ago. What weekend in July is it exactly??

Would we drive up Saturday VERY Early in the AM then?? I guess that's something that would be worked out later.

I'm in for sure. Just need to get brakes on the car before then. While mine aren't bad, I want something alot better soon.

GOD, this is going to be an expensive hobby! And I bought this car to SAVE money....LOL

Thanks for teh heads up, and we'll talk more this weekend

I guess I'm interested in this now. I'm not 100%... but I'm definitely interested.

Hmmmm

Sorry to hear that bud. I really am. I never like to hear about any relationship end.

Hope things are OK on your end.

Yeah, I'll be heading up to Gander Mountain in the next week or two to find a good tent.

Awww crap...my sister's wedding is on the 22nd I'm new to this site, but if it weren't for her wedding I would definitely go, as it would be a good excuse to visit my old roommate and auto-x at the same time. Oh well.

I'm going up to state college this weekend though. Does anyone know if there's an auto-x event this weekend up there?

Nope, no event this weekend. Talk to Chris from NP/SCR, they usually have a group that goes up and does events up there whenever neither group has anything down here.

And how close are you and your sister? Did she ever do anything really horrible to you? You COULD always play the "Remember that time you..." card for not going to the wedding. j/k. Have fun at the wedding, there will always be other auto-x's.

Thanks. Dave, Alicia, and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings tonight. Thanks to them for that.

It sucks... just gotta keep my mind off of it though. Let's see how that goes when I'm at work tomorrow sitting in my cube for 8 hours.

Anyway... Dave and I raced a couple times tonight just for kicks. Of course he devastated me. He does have the pulley though, so I don't feel as bad. Still crushed me though.

You're welcome. Any time. Keep D&B's in mind for Friday. Would be like tonight, only less chicken and more beer and video games.

Plus they have racing games that might level the playing field a little more between you and Dave...

sure sure... no one call me and see if I wanted to eat.....WAAAAAAAAAAAA

I had to eat BK last night and sit on the net. But no.. that's ok... sniff sniff...

Well bud, by a man who's been dumped and rejected enough to have his own game show called "what line is she gonna use this time"... all I can say is that if you need to vent or at least just get out of the house and do something.... we're all a phone call ( or PM ) away...
Take advantage of it.

Haven't been to D&B in a while. If it's ok, and you guys go... call me.. I got NO plans that night.

If not, that's cool too.

Yeah Brian... figured you'd be heading to bed by then. I'm really starting to like the D&B idea. I just gotta find someone else to go with me so that I don't have to drive. Instead of chicken and beer night, it'll be a beer and beer night.

Well, Since it's a Friday, I'm willing to come pick you up and be the DD. I don't consume high octane beverages any longer, so I won't be drinking anyway.

Let me know.

I appreciate the ride offer. I'll keep it in mind. I think a couple of my friends might join us. It should be a good time.

Any other Pittsburgh people going to join us there??

I'm going. Screw it. I wanna go. If anyone has an Xbox Live Diamond card, there's a coupon on the rewards site for $10 free play credits when you buy $20 worth. I am SO taking advantage of that...LOL.

Someone else told me about that today! I was wondering when I'd get to use my Diamond card for the first time.

Hmmmmm well I have no idea what you're talking about... but as long as they have Dig Dug, Galaga, and Defender there.... I'm ready to play.

Screw these "realistic" games... I want 6 colors, blocky people, and sounds from a Casio SP-1.

I roll "old school"..... and I don't even know what it means to "roll"

I believe they do. I know they used to have Galaga, Defender, and Joust there, don't know if they have anything else or not.

lol

I rule at galaga... back when I was a kid that was "the game" to play.... of course back then SuperNintendo was still years away, and my Atari 2600 was just starting to get old.

Ahhhhh to be a child of the 80's.....

I was more trying to say, it's been so long since I've been in an arcade that those games are all I know of....

But I've actually played alot of more recent games...

I hear this one here has a "battletech" setup as well...

Kinda like Mechassuault for Xbox

I've never tried the battletech thing. Kinda wanted to. It costs extra though. I might try it tonight though.

We're doing Battletech. You actually sit inside the mech thingy. It's awesome. We're doing it, extra cost be damned.
