Mike Koz and I have been talking about setting up a beach cruise or meet. The location we thought would be suitable is Sandy Hook:



It is 10+ miles of pure beach. It's a 4 lane highway most of the way down, with barely any traffic. There are no stop lights, and there is a beach parking lot every half mile or si. There is also a food court type of place which should be opening for the season soon, as well. At the end of the hook, there is Fort Hancock, which really is open to the public. There are so old missile silos and bunkers, as well as an old, decaying fort that says 'Do Not Enter', but nobody listens to, anyway.

The speed limit is anywhere from 35-45 on the highway, but the police are very lenient. I've done 10+ over passing by them and have never seen anyone pulled over there.

The only downside we could find is that there is a small entrance fee, I believe it is $4 to get into the park. I don't think that is too much of a problem, though.

it would be SOOOOOOOOOOOO awesome if we could spend the day together.. cruising up and down the beach. we figured we'd post now so we could get a great turnout....

I wouldn't recommend a Saturday in the heart of beach season only because you WILL NOT be able to move down there. Maybe a Sunday might be better or something. Who Knows...but I'll most likely be down

That could work, too. I'd have to check the park hours, I'm not sure if it's open late. I've never been there past 6ish, so I wouldn't know. I'd imagine it would be, though.
