I read what happened to you and first and foremost, thankfully you are able to tell us what happened, albeit in pain. Could you imagine if the @$$#@t that hit you were going just a little bit faster and if you pulled out a little bit slower. It creeps me out to think where the impact would have been.

After the impact, you may not necessarily want the strut bar; very likely it won't sit straight given the forces on the structure of the car.

Get well soon and make sure that the guy who hit you gets what he deserves.

Depending on your insurance agency, you may actually make out. When a bitch in a camry totalled my Z24 (she was only going 45 btw) the insurance company paid me off $1,500 more then I paid for the car so it worked out fairly well.

Most agency's send your cars info to used car companies to find out what the retail value is and then pay you accordingly, not by blue book value or auction value. Since the Cobalt's value seems to be holding out better then the Cavalier's were then you should be good.

Of course I bought the car used so a new-car purchase may be different but as long as you have a good relationship with your agent I think you will do just fine.

P.S. I hope you have full-tort insurance so you can sue the sons-of-bitches. With my accident, I suffered from whiplast for several months but I could not take the lady to court because I had only purchased limited tort insurance

Good luck

Did the cops say who was at fault yet? I hope they charge him cause he was speeding and not you for pulling out.

Just read this forum, glad to here your OK. Those cobalts are pretty tuff huh??? Mine stood up through a head on and I am still here. At least GM did one thing right. My advice, get a attorney, and go see a chirorpracter. I did and my back was way out of line like of by 40mm or somthing. A good attorney will make sure all medical gets paid and the more treatment means bigger pain and suffering claim. You will probaly hurt for a while so you deserve to get paid for it. Its not your falt some dumba$$ T-boned you. A lot of this also depends on the limits of his insurance, if any, and what extra coverages you have on your insurance as well. Well good luck man, and hope you feel better soon.

Gap Insurance is a hell of a deal make sure you get it on your new car.

I would say that car is totaled.. I dont know about NY but in TX if its gonna cost over 49% of the value of the Car its totalled.

You should be gettin the car payed for, plus a lil extra, plus med bills, *pain and suffering*, all that stuff.

From watching a billion epsidoes of CSI, I would say you need to go back and get pictures of skid marks and stuff too.. bc they can judge the speed and stoping distance and everything from the marks.

Woot for survival. And defanitly get an attorney. Pain and suffering *5 the cost of medical bills. And getting fully checked out with everything is a requirement. Get the full gambit of tests done.
