I'm already deployed. I got the internet 3 1/2 into the deployment. We bought a satalite and service from Poland. $5,000 for the equipment and $900/mo for service. But having internet in your living area is a plus. Slow but it works.

 

weeeew thats alot of money 900 a mon but talking to the wife and family is a must!

Some of the bigger FOBs have internet service avalible. We had 2 systems on Falcon, $30-$50 a month.

ramadi damn thats a shitty place sorry you got a deployment there. why did you guys have to buy a sat. there wasn't anything set up there already?? and when you say we do you mean you and a few other people or your whole team chipped in?? cause thats a crap ton of money man

Ramadi was my first deployment. I'm in Speicher now...much nicer BTW. We had 20 people to chip in and buy the sattalite/service. It took 2 months to finally be operatinal but its better than walking down the street to the MWR...where they have a 20 minute time limit.

 

oh nice speicher is alot better then ramadi by a long run lol. and yeah your right about the mwr, plus they block alot of stuff... at least they did at the fobs I've been too, plus a few other deployments I've been on have been to air force bases and they freaking block everything thats pretty sweet that you all chipped in and got it, makes a deployment a lot better when you can surf the web

Ok A lil update for those with the ?'s

I am going to the Gulf, south of Iraq and all.

When I get back I will only be around for about 2 months then I am going to move to Green Bay....Kinda sucks I have no Idea what the hell I am going to do there but it is where Wifey wants to go so...Looks like I am going to Green Bay...lol

Nope not moving to Green Bay now...she hooked up with another dude and she is now going to have his kid....oh well **** happens kinda pissed but nothing I can do from 3000 miles away.
