SOIC - Read if you like fun drives! Medford
Just throwing this out for anyone who might be interested... SOIC (Southern Oregoin Impreza Club) hosts fun drives, BBQ's, and weekly meets (every monday, 7:30 PM, at Sonic in Central Point).
"But, but... This is a Cobalt forum!" Yes, we have members of SOIC with Mini Coopers, EVO's, BMW's, and even a Cobalt SS (he's putting down 230 to the front wheels). All are welcome, as long as 1) Drive respectfully on the drives 2) be respectful of other member's rides 3) You can have fun on fast, but not too crazy drives (more below).
We just did a run up Tillman from Medford up to the Casino a weekend ago. We had about 15 cars, including a Cobalt SS, EVO X, 240SX, Benz, and about 10 Subies. We had two groups, a 'fast' group and a slower group. The slow group topped out about 65 mph, don't know where the fast group topped out.
We obviously went the speed limit through towns, and in city limits, and at certain points, the lead group stops and waits for the slow group and everyone lets their cars cool down for a while.
"But, I live in Portland/Eugene/Washington, and I can't afford/don't want to spend money on hotels!" No problem, bring some beer and either our leader or one of the other guys will let you crash overnight at their place for a few nights for the weekend. We have a group who drives down from Portland and a second from Eugene, and third from Corvallis, and they crash at our leader's place, a second and third local members have places with crash space available, just set it up in advance.
We did Greensprings runs last year, but due to increased ******* cops this year, we aren't going to do any runs out there this year.
They're doing jailtime for any group of cars going more than like 1 mph over the speed limit, and $600 fines, which is retarded.
Send me a PM with your email if you're interested, and I'll forward it on to our leader, and he'll email you for your contact info, you can let him know you'll be interested in doing runs, or whatnot.
