Well, the wife decided to take it for a drive... (the following is from her story, I wasn't there)
She went to the pharmacy, no issues, on the way back, coming off a highway, she stopped at a traffic light (mind you, she's new to driving a manual)... she did almost everything right, depressed clutch, hit brakes - the light turned green, so she let out the clutch, hit the gas sped back up... forgot to shift from 4th back into 1st. So the 'Balt sped up, but it smelled like a burned clutch from 1/4 mile away... I'm pretty sure the clutch is toast.
Do you think she just fried my slave cylinder? The pedal goes in very easy, I can shift into gear when the engine is off...
when started though, even with the clutch fully depressed it wouldn't go into gear, just the horrible burned clutch coming back and the RPMs drop slightly if I try to put it in gear when it's running..
But then again, to replace the slave cylinder, I'd have to drop the transmission, so while I'm at it, I might as well have the clutch replaced.

I got a spare clutch you can have, its my stock clutch. Im not a mechanic but Ive changed my clutch. Its pretty easy, if you need some help let me know.
Where in Oregon are you located? And how many miles on the stock clutch before you upgraded? It seems like dropping the tranny isn't as simple as they describe it... And help would definitely be appreciated. Too bad it broke down in South Everett...
Im in happy valley. The clutch has 60k miles on it, but you can have it for free. If your car is stock it would work fine, I didn't have any problems with it. If you have a tune and performance parts, then you should just upgrade it then. When I replaced my clutch I took my time, but it seemed pretty easy. I know a lot of people say 8 or 12 hours, it took me 20+ hours to do the job. I didn't have someone to help me and this was the first one I have done. When I did mine I bought a new flywheel instead of resurfacing mine, so if you need a flywheel you can use mine, it does need resurfaced. Parts I got were 1qt of transmission fluid, pressure plate bolts, throw out bearing, and throw out bearing bolts, flywheel bolts, and brake fluid. I dont think the bolts needed to be placed but I did it anyway, also the GM manual recommends that you change the flywheel bolts. I do have the GM manual on a CD, I also have a cheap transmission jack I bought from harbor freight you can use if needed. When I did mine I left the two back tires on the ground and jacked up the front until I had it high enough to fit my transmission and jack under it. The jack is just big enough to do these little transmissions. I put one jack stand under the engine to support it while I removed the transmission. Besides the transmission jack you dont really need any special tools. You will need a socket to take the hub nut off, breaker bars and torque wrenches. Some hard parts are: getting the back bolt out of the starter, getting everything back in the engine cradle and the cradle back up on the vehicle. I didn't take the steering rack/column down with the cradle, I left it connected to the vehicle, this was a good idea. I used two clean towels for the axle hole; because once you take the axles out you need to plug the holes right away so transmission fluid dont leak out. Im trying to think of all the little tips off my head but Im having trouble, kind of tired. Its really not the hard; I labeled all my bolts and took pictures of spots to help me remember how it went. If you need any help let me know.
It does seem like quite a bit of work. I just ordered a new GMPP clutch from CED with the all other things I need for the LNF and I will have to have a local shop in South Everett do it. I have to go back to Beaverton for a week (full time work AND school) so the car will have to stay here and I'll have to pick it up next weekend if it's all done by then.. I could have it towed to Oregon, but the towing price would be way more than what a local shop quoted me to replace my clutch. With GMPP clutch, TOB, clutch line, alignment tool, and new flywheel bolts shipped to my parents place here I paid $327.97...
Local shop is charging me $360 for the labor to replace it.
blk_lnf_cobalt, thank you for being ready to help, I just don't have the time to do it myself this time. Also, did you replace the flywheel because it didn't look good anymore or because you didn't want to wait forit to get resurfaced?

Blue SS/TC? on South 167 right around Kent and headed through Auburn. Had LED tails, a Bellevue license plate trim, passenger in the front seat, blue gauges on the A-pillar (Interceptors?), and a low rise. Waved since I hardly ever see anybody in an SS around that area, unsure if they saw me wave but we floated around the freeway a bit until I got to my exit.
hey guys, well ive been thinking, and i was wondering if we should try doing a meet at pir? we chose a date, friday night drags, and we go, the track opens the 3-7-13, so sometime in the summer would be great, we should try getting 20+ cars to show up.thats why im putting this up early.
