OTTP new short throw shifter review

I just got this shifter the other day in the mail and wanted to do a review on it. I haven't installed it yet but I will start with the unboxing pics and my initial thoughts on it. I am still on the stock shifter so I can do before and after pics and measurements.

Here is the box it came in..

The packaging... they really made sure nothing was going to happen to it while in transit!!!

They used ALOT of this to wrap it!!

And here she is!!!

Here is the knob. I got the hybrid one, mostly delrin with a little of the metal showing on the bottom. It has a good weight to it.

Close up of the reverse lockout portion

And a close up of the welds they did.

Ok, so for my initial thoughts. This thing feels and looks amazing! The reverse lockout is very smooth, no grinding at all. The only noise that you can hear is the spring compressing. The shifter itself looks awesome. It is made very well and feels really sturdy. Has a very nice weight to it. It comes just as you see it. It is all put together and ready to be installed.

There are just a couple things that I will have to get used to. The knob is bigger than the stock one. Thats not a big deal, just have to get used to it. The other thing is that the knob doesn't have the shift pattern engraved on the top. Thats not a big deal either. Just something that I noticed.

Overall I am very satisfied with this so far. I can't wait till I put it in.

If anyone has any specific pictures they want me to take of it let me know.

You have to take it apart to install it.
Grease the **** out of the shaft.

Be ready to enjoy and wonder why you waited so long for this.

No. Josh does sell them cheap though.

Only one company includes them, however, they do not include the knob.
It is a give and take.

No it does not.

Look at my review in this forum.
I have both the BPS and OTTP as well as pics of both.
They are even built differently.

The BPS comes greased and comes with more grease for the pivot ball. Also shipped with base bushings.

OMG. $.25 package of grease.

As for base bushing, read the post I already made on that topic. Forums are for reading not just making stupid comments.

This is a review thread about the OTTP. Period. If you have a question, ask. If you want to talk about the BPS go visit a review thread about it, specifically mine as I have plenty of information about that one as well as this one.

update....

installed the shifter today! this was my first time installing a shifter. i would say from from start to finish was around an hour using this how to-https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...ll-diy-271869/.

install was very easy and straight forward. everything went together exactly how it should have.

oh and fyi when the stock knob breaks free it goes flying!!!

following that how to i didnt have to adjust anything very much. i did end up adjusting the side to side cable though. before i adjusted it, 5th gear and reverse were a little difficult to get in gear. like BlackSSstg2 said in his review you cant put the shifter all the way to the right then go into 5th. i didnt like that so thats why i adjusted to side to side. now 5th gear goes in just like stock!

i havent driven with it yet but just sitting still you can feel a noticeable difference in the throw.

overall i think this is a very good shifter! i would highly recommend this to anyone.

oh and something i just saw, OTTP now offers the shifter base bushings as an add on to the shifter for 10.00 more. thats half the price of them by themselves!

comparing the price of this shifter to BPS's they are very close in price with comparable options. like mine, i got the delrin ball. so on OTTP's site for the shifter, delrin ball, and base bushings it comes to 269.99. on the BPS's site for the shifter, that comes with the bushings and a 300 series ball with black delrin it comes to 259.99. but that is with the shifter on sale. it will be 299.99 when it is no longer on sale.

onto a couple installed pics....

more pictures showing the height difference. i tried the best i could to get the same angle and everything. i think they are pretty close.

stock...

OTTP...

after looking at the two knobs i realized that on the stock knob the shaft goes almost to the top of it. the top of the knob is maybe an 1/8" higher then the shaft inside of it. Looking at the OTTP knob there is much more room from where the shaft stops to the top of the knob. so i took a pic of the OTTP with no knob on it (hope that makes sense)...

enjoy!

quick update.

i have been driving around with this for the last couple days. this things is really awesome! the car shifts so much better. so much faster. And it looks great too.

The Delrin knob keeps your hands from freezing in the cold weather. Huge difference in temp between the knob and the rest of the shifter.

Once again GREAT product Josh and OTTP!!!
