I just swapped out my transmission as it lost 5th gear. The G85 diff is solid and the rest of the transmission runs just fine. 5th gear engages but under load it will pop itself out of gear. The transmission is located in Lebanon, New Jersey for pick up. $300 obo, I'll let it go cheap.

 

I have a good fifth gear and synchros

 

Found out from a buddy recently that 5th is actually really easy to change. Just have to pull the cover on the drivers side of trans and use a puller.

I drove the car with the bad trans aka the for sale trans. It drove great. No other gears had issues. Pulled hard and took NLS like a champ.

It'll have "LSD" on the tag.

 

I don't see an LSD on the tag of the trans on sale or may i missed it

 

the 3.82 LSD dont say LSD like the 4.05 LSD trans

It doesn't say LSD anywhere on the tag. I'll take a clearer picture of it later. It's hard to see in the picture, but here's what it says 'S 224 81' 'F66638' 'X-L 55564936' '615936SF66636' 'i-3.82'

 

so what's the best way to tell on a 3.82

 

By the part # on the vin tag or you look in where the axles go and see if its solid in there and not open.

 

X-L 5556 is lsd
