Just an inquiry regaridng part out

hey all, I have a 2007 LSJ, w/m62 2.9. Engine blew 1.5 yrs ago and I have been trying to get it rebuilt / fixed since then. Well things haven't gone to well and due to my severely limited budget it may never get done. So I am inquiring on what everyone feels I could get if I did a 100 % part out. All nuts and bolts, only thing not included would be the blown block of course. Just give me some advise on what the total amount everything thinks I could get if I decide to go down that road if possible please. Some parts would be brand new never driven since car hasn't been drivable since motor blew, for example the diamond pistons. Anyway we can talk specific parts if needed, just depressing day so looking at all my possible options at this point.

Thanks all. I will post again if I do indeed go down this road.

Well, I couldn't sell the car with a title as of right now, that's also part of the reason to part it out since I could get more for it that way I assume. But I guess if someone was willing to take a car without a title for their own project or whatever..6-7K, I don't honestly know at this early stage

Car without the title? not gonna lie sounds a little fishy, if you owe to bank then work a deal out so you can pay off the bank and the person can get the title

This would be an option if I could get as much as I owe on it.. and unfortunately I can't since noone would pay $10K for a car with a blown motor. now if the bank would settle and take less than what I owe, that's a diff story.. again doubtful. Anyway, again , I'm just brainstorming my options at this stage. I would prefer if the engine would get fixed, I keep the car and be happy.

Sell aftermarket parts and buy a stock engine? Then start over when funds permit?

This would work if I felt the aftermarket parts I have and could remove would be enough to purchase another block. But since they are fairly small items or needed for the engine to run at all this would be hard for me to accomplish. If I had known that the block that I had all the work done to was unusable , then maybe 1 year ago this would have been a better option. But anyway, it's a loonnnnnggggg depressing story I do appreciate the brainstorm though.

Mongorat would only need a bill of sale

honestly if he's interested let him make an offer. it will be accurate and it will save you the hassle of trying to tear down the car yourself. otehr than that. no one will be making offers on parts in this thread because feelers aren't allowed and this isn't a fs thread technically.

I understand and the purpose of this wasn't to get offers for parts. altho my IM has been blowing up. The purpose for me at least was to gauge overall net worth if I was to part out the entire car. if someone was willing / able to offer a reasonable offer with the understanding no title under the current circumstances , who knows. been dealing with this issue for 1.5 years is just forcing me to think outside of the box at other options is all. I would prefer to get it fixed, running great and keep it for 20 years.

So what exactly is still needed to get the current motor up and running again? Are you short on parts or labor?

I have bought all the new parts that were needed plus a lot of extra things . Block that was being used ended up either being crap or was ruined , who knows . Either way money has run out and need a new working block . We might have a block that can be used hopefully in the works but just frustrated that its been such a shitty process as to now. If this block ends up not working , then the part out might need to be the next step .

blown cars around here have gone for 3000 dollars including all parts to rebuild the car. Part outs are only going to get you about the same.
