if your dad can tell you what to do with your car, you are too young to have an SS/SC!!!

I was about to say that ^^^^^^

But seriously....selling the car over the muffler on it? Just go get one of the Dynomax mufflers at advance, they are actually pretty decent for what they are.

then it is his car. so end of that story.

now about getting you that exhaust, sorry I can't help, but if I'd trade ya if I had one to trade you. did you actually get a ticket? you shouldn't, bring it in and get it tested!

I think your best bet is to convince your dad that it IS legal

No when he comes on a forum asking for help then thats what he should get. He shouldnt have to hear your pitty story. Its not his fault that you have to works 2 jobs to pay for your car. Hes 17 and his dad paid for his car...So what? He didnt ask what you think about him being a 17 year old and having a SS/SC. Im sure that if you were offered that car when you was 16 you would have taken it to..

Sorry for the rant but if I could help ya out man I would. My best advice is to get your exhaust tested and if it passes get a document saying that its legal and keep it in your car.

I agree. I work 1 job only 6 months a year, and I bought mine when I was 19, so get over it, we all have different situations, he should not feel like he cant get help because of it.

I have a friend that his dad bought him a z06, no that is ridiculous, so a cobalt ss/sc pales in comparison

Back on topic, cheap route: go get a muffle from a muffle shop and have them swap it out, because the touring does not have a 'muffler' per se, but 2 straight through resonators

somone told me i can plead not guilty to the ticket and tell them that they did not hook the exhaust to the deibalmeter or w/e u call it, so they couldnt have written me a ticket so idk i think imma jsut throw on a touring muffler if i get it-

thats what I'd do. Tell the magistrate that you have an ehuast that is an OEM option (although that is SLIGHTLY bending the truth, it IS a GM branded ehxuast) and tell him/her that the cop did no testing to see if it really was that load, and that his opinion on the volume of the exhaust is not illegal, but the numbers (which are non existent) are what CAN be.

I think you can get it tested at a highway patrol post, or a police station. If they can give out tickets for it then they should be able to test them. Make sure you do this before you go to court. If it's legal then when you go to court they'll just throw it out

I had the same thing happen to me when I had my Flowmaster, but fortunatly I only got a warning. If you got a ticket and no decibal reader was used to test your muffler than I don't think you can actually be given a ticket. The Corsa exhaust is 50 state legal, but each town has its own decibal level requirements, you'd have to find out what your city/area's decibal level is legal at and what the Corsa exhaust decibal level is at so that you know whether or not your exhaust is fine. And on a side note, your still paying for the car and are seeking help/advice, and help/advice is what you should get, not jokes/insults about the car being your "daddy's" and your age. Best of luck.

^ your right. here in cali it has to be under 96 decibles from like 5 feet away at WOT. my redline is 95..and my bike will be 95 once i get the exhaust on it. try calling the local state patroll office. or nearest police staion and ask em a question. if its a modifyed exhaust ticket you have to go back to stock. at least here in cali u do..

It's called a "decibel meter"....and the only reason I'm correcting your spelling is because you should ask your science teacher for one (i'm assuming you are still in high school). I did a project in 10th grade and borrowed one from my high school.....and just have someone rev up your car, and see what it puts out. It should be posted somehwere in your city/state code what the legal level is.

I think Jersey is the same way with that, too. It sucks, bad law in my opinion. What about the Harley Davidsons and Choppers, they aren't too loud?
