1st Clay Bar experience!

And WOW I only did my hood cuz its getting cold out, the rest of the car will get done tomorrow, along with a nice photoshoot. But I was blown away at the difference that microscopic dirt has on the finished product.

The entire kit was from Meguire's line, and finished with Meguire's Deep Crystal Polish.

I was joking, sorry. Shoulda used a smiley.

You won't hurt the painted plastic. All the clay does is pull imperfections out of the top few layers of the paint. Plastic in his sense is raw, unpainted plastic. I thought you knew that, sorry. Didn't mean to come off like that. It's kinda late, i worked 12 hours today, and I'm tired. All in good fun bro.

Will do. Its easier than you think, but its nice to have something to read so you know where you're going.

Thx for all the feedback guys! I can't wait till class is over. Gonna go to town on the whip!

Is this a really soft clay that doesn't dull the finish? The clay that we use at the detail shop requires a buff job after claying. Thats the only reason that I haven't clayed my car yet.

No, its fairly firm clay, but is plyable if you start to need it with your fingers. Its not like a brick or anything, but its not like silly puddy either.

I got mine at Autozone in a Meguire's Clay Bar kit for $17.99 (or maybe 16.99). You can order just the clay bars from a handful of website in a 7oz container, probably 12 clay bars or so. The kit I bought has 2 bars, and I only used half of one of them, and it (should) do the rest of the car if its fairly clean.
