Some of you guys are a little retarded with your stamps/watermarks/advertising/logo or whatever you want to call that giant thing you keep cramming in to everyone's eyes. It takes a lot away from the image itself having some giant ass logo at the bottom that represents nothing in most cases. Most of these gaudy logos are just some guy with a hobby who thought it was cute/cool.
Have you ever seen a really nice car with a big ass car dealership emblem or bumper sticker on the trunk or bumper? It looks stupid and cheapens the whole thing. It's like the advertising at the top of a web page. A person immediately sees it first and makes a conscious effort to ignore it. You don't see this crap on professional photographs unless it's for advertising. It makes it look more like a rookie or insecure photographer took the picture.
There's nothing wrong with watermarks but some of you guys need to look up the word "subtle."
Beautiful pics with annoying large and obtrusive crap. There's a way to do it cleaner and classier.
The next time you take a pic, look at it with and without your crap on it.
Look at these:
40 Beautiful Examples of Car Photography
Notice how much more intrusive those with writing on them look. The reason is.... when a person sees something beautiful, there aren't words on it. Words make an image flat and they're a constant reminder that it's just an image on a piece of paper.

My iPhone is what I had with me at the time, plus this was during my install and when I went out to eat. They're just quick picks. Idk why flickr went and reduced the quality out of them like crap though.
I'll get some better shots with my T2i later. Tail lights, didn't want anything smoked or blacked out like everyone else, didn't like the stock one's.

These 'professional' photos you speak of have had their rights purchased from the photographer which means they don't need the watermark. In most cases they don't even mention his/her name in the article. Most of my pictures are used as profile pictures/timeline photos etc for Facebook, and when someone likes or comments on that user, they see that it was from me and they can 'like' my page.
Not saying watermarks are bad. An aspiring photographer should have the ability to credit themselves for an image they created. However, 99% of the focus on a photograph should be on the image/subject itself. Think of it as music. If a person REALLY likes a particular artist/group, that person will go out of their way to get more. They may even pay money for it. The same holds true for photography. If a viewer really likes the picture, they will make the effort to find out who the photographer was. A subtle watermark works just fine for that.
Anyone who thinks watermarks protect their property is kidding themselves. If someone wants to steal the image, they will. It doesn't matter how big the watermark is or where it's placed. It can be removed. Sure you can say an image is copyrighted and prove it belongs to you but what good is that? Unless someone makes a LOT of money off an image they stole from you, there's really nothing you can do about it. I can steal any image I want and use it on any site I'd like. The worst the owner of the image can do without spending a substantial amount of money and time fighting me would be to send a cease and desist letter. These letters generally talk about taking action if the image isn't removed or the photographer isn't credited or compensated or whatever. I could throw it away or respond with FU and call their bluff. Then what? I'll be taken to court? Sued? The burden would be on the photographer to prove that I made money using the photo and/or that I caused the photographer to lose money. That's expensive, time consuming and hard to do.
Look. Most of the people in here take better pics than I do. I am far from being an expert on photography. I have a 300.00 camera and 30.00 invested in Photoshop Elements. I spend less than an hour a week taking pictures. I admire a LOT of people's work on this site and spend time viewing their pics. I envy their abilities and talents. After trying to take good photos, I have a new appreciation for what some of you guys on this site have done.
I was just trying to help in an assholeish sort of way. Call it tough love. Call it constructive criticism.
So..........back to the subject at hand..... pictars.
I took approximately 40 pics last night with my camera and a handheld Black and Decker spotlight.
This is my favorite:

Yeah im just gonna put this pointless JL photography that nobody and i mean nobody really cares about right up in the middle of everything haha.
nobody is gonna steal your pictures and if they want to its not hard to get rid of a watermark.

All this bitching & moaning about watermarks - listen if you can't see the photo for what it is and ignore the watermark you shouldn't be looking at them. There happy? You want tough love - there it is.
